AbstractAbstract
[en] The problem of generation of baryon asymmetry of the Universe is investigated in the framework of left-right symmetric grand unified models. We show that in a class of grand unified theories like SO(10) model the very existence of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe requires the right-handed weak gauge bosons to be almost as heavy as leptoquark bosons, M(W)sub(R) > 1012 GeV

AbstractAbstract
[en] Results from the BEBC beam dump experiments are discussed. The evidence of a prompt (electron and muon) neutrino flux is confirmed and the energy and flux distributions are presented. The NC/CC for all the observed (prompt + conventional) electron and muon neutrino events is found to be 0.32+-0.08. The upper limit for νsub(tau) in the prompt signal is 20%. The upper limit of the probability for a νsub(e) to oscillate over to a νsub(tau) is 38%

AbstractAbstract
[en] Neutrinos from proton-copper collisions are observed, whose origin is either direct or due to the decay of short lived hadrons. The reactions produced by these neutrinos cannot be distinguished from those of electron and muon neutrinos in our apparatus. The production rate is approximately 0.4.10-4 of the pion production rate. The prompt flux ratio (νsub(e) + antiνsub(e))/(νsub(μ) + antiνsub(μ)) is somewhat less than unity, but not significantly so. The prompt flux ratio antiνsub(μ)/νsub(μ) is considerably smaller than one. This could be understood if charmed baryons were the dominant source of prompt neutrinos near the forward direction

AbstractAbstract
[en] Inclusive and exclusive measurements of psi radiative decay are presented. The magnitude of hard inclusive radiative decay is comparable to the prediction of first order QCD, but the measured spectrum is considerably softer. In addition to measurements of radiative decays to the known pseudoscalar and tensor mesons, a sizable decay to a resonance of mass 1440 +10 -15 MeV/c2 in the KantiKπ mode is observed. This may be the E(1420) meson. Supporting evidence is presented for the existence of the eta(c) at a mass of 2980 MeV/c2

AbstractAbstract
[en] Data on the processes e+e- → e+e- and e+e- → m+m-at PETRA energies (s = 1000 GeV2) are compared with the predictions of the standard (Salam-Weinberg) electro-weak theory and limits are obtained on the values of the vector and axial vector coupling constants. The data are also compared with extended gauge models containing more than one neutral weak boson. Lower limits are placed on the masses of such bosons

AbstractAbstract
[en] The present status of the experiment can be broken into ''performance'' and ''construction''. In the area of performance, production and prototype versions of both the PDT's and calorimeters have been tested using charged particles from beams, cosmic rays and sources. The desired specifications have been met; in particular: Δthetasub(e) approximately = 12 mrad/√Ee, calorimeter attenuation lenghts approximately 200cm, and single cell dE/dx of < 50% FWHM. In the area of construction, three complete (calorimeter plus X-Y PDT's) modules per week are being produced. About one tenth of the total detector is in installation for an engineering run next month (april, 1980). In the autum (>september, 1980), data taking runs should begin on between one-half and one-third of the detector. Future plans include adding the remaining portion of the detector during the following year as well as the addition of a magnetic spectrometer for muons and downstream augmentation of gamma ray detection
