AbstractAbstract
[en] We have measured the ψ production at Fermilab using π- and antip beams of 125 GeV/c incident on Be, Cu and W targets. We discuss results concerning the A dependence, the nuclear - target effects on the ψ production and the extraction of the gluon structure functions of the pion and the antiproton

AbstractAbstract
[en] Proton spectra of Streamer Chamber data from central 16O and 32S on S and Au collisions at 200 GeV/nucl. are studied. Proton spectra are produced by subtracting the spectrum of the negatively charged particles from that of the positively charged ones. The rapidity distribution of the protons show a rather flat behavior in the rapidity intervall 0< y<3. Transverse momentum spectra in two rapidity regions are discussed in terms of a thermal fireball and a model with superimposed radial flow. Both models agree well with the data, the flow model also fits the pion PT spectra

AbstractAbstract
[en] For many years already the comparison of hadron production in deep inelastic lepton scattering on different nuclei is regarded as an ideal tool to investigate the space-time structure of the hadronisation process, the understanding of which would be helpful to explain effects in hadron nucleus and nucleus nucleus collisions. More recently it was also discussed, whether information about the hadronic final state can contribute to resolve the puzzle of the EMC effect. The study of each of these problems requires an accurate measurement of hadron distributions in a wide range of energy and momentum transfer ν and Q2. In 1984/85 the EMC has taken muon scattering data on various nuclear targets at high beam energies (100-280 GeV) using the NA2-spectrometer with a good acceptance for forward produced hadrons. Systematic errors for ratios of multiplicities could be reduced to a 1-2% level by measuring simultaneously on D2 and one of the heavy targets (C, Cu, Sn)

AbstractAbstract
[en] During the 1987-8 fixed-target run at Fermilab, E-769 recorded 500 million interactions of 250 GeV/c π-, K-, π+, K+, and p on a target consisting of 26 thin foils of Be, Al, Cu, and W. A global transverse energy trigger rejected four out of five interactions. Silicon microstrip detectors are used to locate charm decay vertices. Event reconstruction is in progress on farms of ACP microprocessors and is beginning on RISC workstations. Charm Φ and ΦΦ production are examined in a preliminary sample of 18 million positive beam events

AbstractAbstract
[en] We discuss an application of finite temperature QCD to lepton-pair production in a quark-gluon plasma. The perturbative calculation is performed within the real-time formalism. After cancellation of infrared and mass singularities, the corrections at 0(αS) are found to be very small in the region where the mass of the Drell-Yan pair is much larger than the temperature of the plasma. Interesting effects, however, appear at the annihilation threshold of the thermalized quarks

AbstractAbstract
[en] The main results on the J/Ψ suppression observed in the NA38 experiment in oxygen-uranium, oxygen-copper and sulphur-uranium central collisions at 200 GeV/nucleon are summarized. An analysis is made of the models which have been proposed to try explaining the experimental data. Two classes of models are considered: one which assumes the existence of a quark-gluon plasma, another which assumes J/Ψ absorption by inelastic scattering in some hot dense hadronic matter, either without or with initial state parton interactions. The present status of the subject is summarized in the conclusions

AbstractAbstract
[en] The coming year will see the establishment near Dallas, Texas, of a new laboratory and the first steps toward construction of a proton-proton collider 84 km in circumference. I report on the steps being taken to organize the laboratory and to plan for the experimental program, and I comment briefly on research and development for the collider and its complement of detectors
