AbstractAbstract
[en] In heart cavity studies the simplicity and harmlessness nuclear imagery are great advantages, but it is necessary to improve on the data obtainable by this technique. The usual image is faulty, owing to the presence of a kinetic softness, and deficient because it fails to account for the mobility of the walls. An attempt was made to correct the kinetic softness on an image and to reconstitute the film of a heart cycle, an aim achieved by combining a computer with the camera. The examination conditions generally adopted include storage of all data and a reconstitution of the entire cycle is programmed taking a multiple time unit of 20ms; this supplies a sequence of images which when observed in succession resembles the heat contractility film

[en] A simple method is proposed for calculation of the 133Xe elimination coefficient and its graphical representation giving a functional lung ventilation image, the advantages of the method are that it uses a small computing unit and above all involves only the start of the wash out phase, the only moment when xenon elimination belongs to a decreasing monoexponential time function. The validity of the method is illustrated by three typical results
[fr]

AbstractAbstract
[en] The intestinal absorption of calcium was measured by a double isotopic labelling method, the results being obtained by a mathematical deconvolution technique. This analytical method was compared with the simple measurement of the plasma radioactivity ratio for the two isotopes administered orally and intraveinously respectively. The study covered 29 determinations. It was possible to estimate the total fractional absorption of calcium (TFACa) by calculating the average of the 47Ca/45Ca quotients measured on the 3rd and 8th hour after simultaneous administration of 45Ca intraveinously and 47Ca by mouth. The advantages of this method are obvious: need for only two blood samplings, simplicity of calculations which nevertheless give TFACa values comparable to those obtained by deconvolution analysis. However the only information supplied by the quotients method is the total fractional absorption, whereas inverse convolution analysis provides several interesting parameters such as the maximum absorption and the mean transit time of radiocalcium through the intestinal wall

AbstractAbstract
[en] A retrospective study of thymus scintigraphs using selenomethionine 75Se was made on 65 patients, 59 myasthenic and 6 presenting various mediastinal formations. Special attention was paid to highly individualized uptake centres. Certain inconsistencies often observed in practice were noted however. Selenium 75-labelled thymus scintigraphy on myasthenics was found to be difficult because of the low activities detected, the artefacts possible, the variability of the thymus and the poor condition of the patients. Carried out on 59 myasthenics it gave 23% focal images in 52 patients possessing their thymus. This fraction compares with that of the radiological anomalies observed in these patients

AbstractAbstract
[en] The early detection of infections centres using labelled polynuclear neutrophile (LPN) as vector was investigated. The method was based on one of the physiological properties of this substance, its phagocytotic power towards colloidal sulphur particles labelled with pertechnetate-Tc 99m. The preliminary results of experiments on dogs are reported and confirm that centres of infection can be determined in experimental animals by the use of polynuclear neutrophiles labelled by phagocytosis. It seems that these results are really due to the presence of LPN in situ and not to simple inflammatory hyperhaemia or to an excess of free pertechnetate. The nature of the vector, tracer and lebelling agent, the quality of the results obtained and the harmlessness of the method warrant its clinical application in human beings

AbstractAbstract
[en] A record of osteonecrosis cases diagnosed on the basis of scintigraphic explorations since 1970 reveals 15 primary aseptic osteonecroses and 4 secondary aseptic osteonecroses of various origins. Secondary aseptic osteonecroses following cortisone treatment were discovered in 8 kidney transplants out of 29 explored. After the use of sup(87m)Sr and a scanning scintigraph, sup(99m)Tc labelled polyphosphates, pyrophosphates and diphosphonates were administered as soon as possible and scintigraphs taken with a cine-camera. For most patients the whole skeleton was scintigraphed, either by juxtaposition of the elementary scintigraph or camera images or, since the beginning of 1974, by means of an automatic travelling bed coupled to the camera. In these last cases the diseased regions were always scintigraphed individually to supplement the whole-skeleton picture. The results show the value of bone scintigraphy for early or even pre-radiological detection of aseptic osteonecroses

AbstractAbstract
[en] Owing to the recent commercialisation of californium 252 it is now possible to obtain neutron fluxes strong enough for precise activation of the calcium content of biological targets. After the preliminary measurements necessary to establish the most suitable conditions for irradiating 3 to 5cm thick targets, two parallel sets of experiments were developed. In the first the medium-term total calcium variation was studied in 20 rats, 16 suffering from chronic kidney deficiency. In the second the precision expected as a function of the calcium content of the irradiated target was examined, using 3 sets of tissue equivalent standards of calcium contents 5, 20 and 50g respectively. The first results obtained on calcium 49 in vivo show that a calcium content variation can be followed with a sensitivity threshold below that obtained by conventional methods
