AbstractAbstract
[en] The Tsukuba International Workshop on Deuteron Involving Reactions and Polarization Phenomena was held on 22-23 August, 1985 in the International Conference Hall at the University of Tsukuba, under the auspices of the Tandem Accelerator Center at University of Tsukuba (UT-TAC) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Science (FAIS). The following problems were studied and discussed in this workshop: 1. Deuteron breakup effects due to nuclear fields in deuteron elastic and inelastic scatterings and in transfer reactions, and even ijn the intermediate deuteron channels in higher-order reaction processes. 2. Multistep processes in deuteron involving reactions such as the processes (p,d)(d,t), (d,t)(t,α), (d/sup 3/,He)(/sup 3/He,α), etc.. 3. D-state effects of deuterons and of other light nuclei on the reaction processes. 4. Precise wave functions of light nuclei. 5. Polarization transfers in deuteron induced reactions. 6. Deuteron involving reactions as a probe for nuclear structure studies. 7. Tensor interactions in a deuteron-nucleus system

AbstractAbstract
[en] A survey of various higher-order effects appearing in (d,p) and (p,t) transfer reactions has been presented. In the (d,p) reaction, a significant role of deuteron D-state admixture for providing the phase relation between analyzing power (Ay) and polarization (Py) as a function of incident energies is pointed out. In the (p,t) reaction, roles of one-step and two-step transfer mechanisms are clarified. It is remarked that Ay is particularly sensitive to difference in transfer mechanisms and also in nuclear shell configurations

AbstractAbstract
[en] The two-deuteron-alpha-particle overlap, including its D-wave component, is calculated for realistic two- and four-body wave functions. The deduced theoretical D/sub 2/ (d,α) value is compared with improved empirical estimates from DWBA analyses of (d,α) reactions in the sd-shell and with other recent theoretical and empirical estimates

AbstractAbstract
[en] The elastic scattering data of 56 MeV polarized deuterons, σ, A/sub y/, A/sub xx/, and A/sub xz/, have been analyzed in terms of the optical model including a T/sub R/-type tensor potential. A complex T/sub R/ potential was necessary to explain the magnitude of A/sub xz/ and the quantity X/sub 2/ = (2A/sub xx/+A/sub yy/)√3 for all nuclei studied. The potentials obtained are compared with the folding model predictions

AbstractAbstract
[en] Results of the vector- and tensor-analyzing power measurements in (d,d) and (d,/sup 6/Li) reactions are presented. Analyzing powers have been measured in the elastic scattering at the deuteron energy of 22 MeV by 12 nuclei: Ca(A=40), Ni(A=58, 60, 62, 64), Zr(A=90), Mo(A=92, 100) and Pd(A=104, 106, 108, 110). Data have been analyzed in terms of the optical model including a complex T/sub R/-type tensor interaction. The agreement with the T/sub 21/ data at backward angles is greatly improved when the T/sub R/ potential are added to the optical-model potential. For the (d, /sup 6/Li) reaction, measurements, of the vector, and tensor analyzing powers, iT/sub 11/, T/sub 20/, T/sub 21/, and T/sub 22/, have been made on /sup 12/C and /sup 16/O targets at E/sub d/=22 MeV. The data are compared with the finite-range DWBA calculations assuming an alpha cluster transfer process

AbstractAbstract
[en] Discussing recent experiments with polarized deuterons at the Munich tandem accelerator, a review of the phenomenology of those reactions near 20 MeV incident deuteron energy is attempted. The author's emphasis is on spectroscopic applications: the determination of mass transition moments in inelastic scattering and the study of configuration mixing in transfer reactions. With respect to the reaction mechanics he has important contributions from D-state admixtures in the A = 2 to 4 nuclei, from multistep collective excitations and from sequential processes in one and two nucleon transfer reactions

AbstractAbstract
[en] Angular distributions of polarization transfer coefficients (K/sup y'//sub y/ and K/sup y'//sub yy/) and some other polarization observables (A/sub y/, A/sub yy/, and P/sup 0//sub y'/) were measured for the (d,p) reactions to several low-lying states of /sup 13/C and /sup 29/Si at E/sub d/ = /sup 56/ MeV. In the 1+/2 transitions, K/sup y'//sub y/ exhibits a strong oscillation which is due to the deuteron D-state contribution. In the 3+/2 and 5+/2 transitions, an enhanced j-dependence is seen in K/sup y'//sub yy/ but not in K/sup y'//sub y/. The experiment data were fairly well reproduced by a finite range DWBA calculation

AbstractAbstract
[en] Angular distributions of tensor analyzing powers of the /sup 89/Y(d,α)/sup 87/ Sr reaction have been analyzed using full finite range distorted wave Born approximation calculations including α-particle D-state effects. From this analysis it is possible to determine the phase and amplitude of two-nucleon spectroscopic amplitudes corresponding to different L and J transfers

AbstractAbstract
[en] The coupled-channels method to treat the deuteron breakup process is applied to the elastic scattering and the transferred and breakup reactions. For /sup 40/Ca(d/sup →/,d)/sup 40/Ca at 56 MeV, the method successfully reproduces the data on the cross section and the vector and tensor analyzing powers. The breakup effect on the elastic scattering is important especially for the cross section and the vector-analyzing power. In the (p/sup →/,d) reaction on /sup 208//sub Pb/ at 22 MeV, conventional DWBA is good for the final state /sup 207/Pb (2p1/2, gr) with good momentum matching, but not for /sup 207/Pb)0i13/2) with poor momentum matching. The adiabatic approximation prescription is good for both final states of /sup 207/Pb(2p1/2,gr) and /sup 207/(Pb)0i13/2). For the (d,pn) reaction at 90 MeV, two types of characteristics breakup processes are theoretically found
