[en] High-spin states in ²¹⁰Po (16⁺, 14^-, 13^-) and ²¹¹At (39/2^-, 33/2⁺, 31/2⁺) have been studied by measurements of delayed gamma rays and conversion electrons produced in ²⁰⁸Pb(α,2n)- and ²⁰⁹Bi(α,2n)-reactions. [en] In a first application of the gamma-ray-induced Doppler broadening technique to a heavy mass nucleus the first absolute transition rates from a σ< N state in an O(6) nucleus (¹⁹⁶Pt) are obtained. The principal results concerns the 1402 keV 0⁺ base state of the σ=N-2 family, namely, that B(E2:[0₃⁺(σ=4)-2₁⁺(σ=6)])<0.034 e² b². In agreement with the selection rule which forbids Δσ=2 transitions, this corresponds to at least an order-of-magnitude hindrance compared to allowed O(6) transitions and provides a critical test of the σ quantum number

[en] We report on the identification of 0⁺ intruder states in the ^190-200Pb nuclei. The β⁺/EC decay of ^192-200Bi was used to search for 0⁺ states in ^192-200Pb (charactrerised by their E0 groundstate transition). A 0⁺ state in ¹⁹⁰Pb was identified in the α decay of ¹⁹⁴Po. 14 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab. (author)

[en] The Coulomb excitation of /sup 195/Pt by 125 MeV /sup 32/S projectiles has been studied using γ ray spectroscopic techniques. On the basis of supersymmetry considerations, the observation of new levels, B(E2) ratios, and B(E2) values, a new assignment of negative-parity states within the U(6/12) multi-j supersymmetry scheme of the interacting-boson-fermion model is proposed for the <σ₁,σ₂,σ₃>-(tau ₁,tau₂) = <7,0,0>-(2 ,0) and <6,1,0>-(2,0) quadruplets. With this classification the simultaneous description of the low lying /sup 195/Pt and /sup 194/Pt levels within the framework of the supersymmetry scheme is greatly improved. The predicted E2 branching ratios for the decay of the (tau₁,tau₂)-L = (2,0)-4 levels in /sup 195/Pt are well reproduced, while for the decay of the (2,0)-2 levels discrepancies occur in both the new and the old classification
