[en] The structure of perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics in kinematic regimes characterized by two large but very different mass scales is discussed. The status of the sequence of approximations employed to theoretically study these regimes is reviewed along with some discussion of the present phenomenology. Various important outstanding questions are noted. 22 references
