AbstractAbstract
[en] In this review the general areas of research of interest to nuclear and radiochemists which would open up with the availability of the Pelletron facility are discussed. Heavy ion reactions have brought to the fore a variety of new reaction types and made it possible to prepare radionuclides with abnormal N/P ratio, higher angular momentum and in new regions of nuclear deformations often leading to exotic modes of decay. They have also enabled extension of periodic table from element no. 100, to 109. (M.N.)
