AbstractAbstract
[en] Until 1959, the Industrial Code formed the legal basis for clean air measures. Increasingly severe environmental pollution, especially in the Ruhr mining district, finally resulted in the first Technical Code on Clean Air in 1964. But not until 1974 came the Federal Act for the Protection against Nuisances into being. It led to a reorientation and substantial cuts in, especially, SO2 and NOx pollution. An extension to include the ozone problem will be indispensable. (DG)
