Enlightenment on radiation protection regulator from revision of appendix a to 10 CFR part 50
AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper introduced the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission(NRC) revision plans for the basis of design objectives of light water reactors. Consequently, in considering changes of public exposure pathways for inland nuclear plants, it is proposed that design objectives of nuclear power plants in China should be defined. Furthermore, in applying current radiation protection standards, these concerns should be raised: (1) 2007 ICRP Recommendations(ICRP Publication 103) have now evolved from a process-based approach towards practices and interventions to an approach based on the characteristics of three types of radiation exposure situations i.e., planned, emergency, and existing exposure situations. (2) After 2007 ICRP Recommendations updated the radiation and tissue weighting factors in quantities equivalent and effective dose, the current dose conversion factors applied in the dose assessment should be updated.
