Revolutionizing the aviation sector, turning it into a model of environmental and economic #sustainability: this is the mission of our 3rd Annual Congress, which brought together key players, energy companies, academic world and institutions to “re-write” the rules of air transport, protecting the growth of the sector and fully reconciling it with the environment. A unique alliance between 17 partners - sponsored by ENAC - Ente Nazionale per l'Aviazione Civile, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) - #PACTA Foundation aims at achieving the #NetZero Emissions goal by 2050, positioning Italy as a leader in the sustainable transition of air transport. We put forward proposals including initiatives to push for the adoption of #SAF; to support research on new-generation aircraft; to stimulate investments in #greenenergy; to transform airports into sustainable hubs through the #decarbonisation of operating fleets, the facilitation of energy efficiency measures and the optimisation of air traffic; to promote #multimodality. “Decarbonising aviation is a collective responsibility, and PACTA Foundation demonstrates that it is possible to address it with a systemic approach. Our policy proposals represent practical tools designed to support institutions in bridging the gap between ambitions and implementation. Flying less is not the solution, and sustainability is not a constraint: it is the key to a fairer future, in which environment and progress are part of the same strategic vision,” our Chairman Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, commented. As hosts of this edition of the “ACI Airports Innovate” event, it’s with honor and proud that we welcome the Technology Innovation Award as “Best Airport Innovation Leader”! 🏆 The award, announced by ACI World - Airports Council International and Amadeus, celebrates the outstanding airport technology initiatives and leadership that are shaping the future of air transport. Our Senior Vice President Transformation & Technology Emanuele Calà received the award, highlighting Aeroporti di Roma’s successful team spirit. “This recognition represents more than an individual achievement; instead, it celebrates the innovative collective spirit that our company has built, in line with the strategic vision of our holding company Mundys”, Calà commented. “Among the key milestones we reached so far are #Fiumicino airport’s Innovation Hub, the acceleration programme #RunwaytotheFuture, which has attracted over 1000 international startups in three years, the launch of the network Airports for Innovation and our Corporate Venture Capital arm, ADR Ventures”. Wrapping up a great day of dialogue and exchange on #innovation in the airport sector, focused on matters including automation, #AI, passengers experience and technologies for sustainable development 🚀 A rich debate, which makes us even more honoured to host this year’s edition of #AirportsInnovate, organised by ACI EUROPE, ACI World - Airports Council International and Airports Council International - ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East. Innovation is a crucial pillar in our mission to build the airport of the future; basing our strategy on open innovation and international cooperation, the opportunity to share views and ideas with our peers from all over the world becomes even more valuable. Campaigns across the globe are increasingly raising awareness, fostering gender education and supporting women in speaking out. On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we join such efforts with the simple question “#AreYouOk?”, as we very proudly celebrate that Rome #Fiumicino is the 1st airport to become a #PuntoViola - a point to which women in need can refer to receive a first and tangible support, understanding which actions to undertake in case of violence or abuses. As our CEO Marco Troncone commented, “our commitment to develop this initiative is a concrete act to promote respect and give active support, translating Aeroporti di Roma’s core values into actions”. Indeed, we worked for months alongside the nonprofit association DONNEXSTRADA to train 60 people from the airport staff to welcome women at the four dedicated desks placed at our airport’s Info Points; they followed a structured course, guided by experts who provided them with all the necessary know-how to identify and handle cases of violence, recognizing all forms of abuse, including verbal and psychological. This way, we aim at making women’s voices heard even louder. We do it as a conscious community, united by the concrete will to make a difference and protect the rights of all. We do it for all women, girls and boys, in the hope that, when they pass through our airports, they will feel safe, aware and empowered members of a society that strongly fights for #NoViolenceAgainstWomen! #TogetherBeyondFlying

In the context of #COP29 in Baku, our CEO Marco Troncone, Chairman of Fondazione Patto Decarbonizzazione Trasporto Aereo (PACTA), shared his vision of a net-zero future for the aviation sector. Following #PACTA’s side event at the Italian Pavilion, he was interviewed by #RaiNews24, highlighting the commitment of the Foundation to outline a clear path toward decarbonizing the industry; to reach this goal, the initiative brings together the key players in aviation - including airports, airlines, aircraft producers, associations, as well as leading national energy companies, such as Eni, Enel Group and Snam.  “The road is uphill, but the technologies are there: Sustainable Aviation Fuels (#SAF), synthetic fuels, next-generation aircraft, airspace optimization and #hydrogen will all play a crucial role”. Indeed, understanding and exploring new technologies is essential to achieve a #NetZero aviation, alongside the alignment of climate finance with concrete actions to reduce emissions.
