Battery storage is crucial for the EU’s plans to achieve carbon neutrality and rebuild industrial prominence. While the technology involved is increasingly accessible on the global level, Europe’s failures to develop a domestic alternative to Chinese giants could eventually result in overdependence on foreign suppliers and overall irrelevance in the sector. To avoid this fate, the bloc has to work collectively and find measures to achieve self-sufficiency. - Pietro Gallino https://lnkd.in/dFtU4Hnp

In a seemingly miraculous turn of events, France, instigator of twenty years of war, was able to preserve its status as one of the great powers of Europe, shaping how it was to be run for the next 99 years between 1815 and 1914 during the Congress of Vienna. How did a France that marched from Lisbon to Moscow, founded kingdoms and destroyed an empire, survive the biggest conflict yet fought? - Eduardo Alessandro Pavone https://lnkd.in/d6J4r8Tr

Many parallels have been drawn between the series of events that led to the removal of Bangladesh’s strongwoman and the popular revolt in Sri Lanka two years prior, when its own despotic dynasty was forced to flee amid an economic crisis. Strikingly, both countries are part of the South Asian region - home to a quarter of the planet and a tenth of the global economy - and the crises were exacerbated by remarkably similar macroeconomic conditions. With its deep integration into global commodity and debt markets, the effects of the global energy and inflation crisis were acutely felt in South Asia. The resulting surge in unemployment and runaway inflation fueled widespread discontent, which the region’s weak democratic institutions were ill-suited to handle. These democratic institutions had been further weakened by structural imbalances created by decades of neoliberal establishments that fueled corruption, rent-seeking and kleptocratic political establishments. The foundations of these institutional structures and the political ramifications of the series of economic crises is explored in this article - Naveen Sivakumar for Aleph https://lnkd.in/dfGtGtsn

To achieve these goals, he will create a new federal agency, named the ‘Department of Government Efficiency’. 💬Leonardo Fresa Check it out here 👇 - 𝐴𝑙𝑒𝑝𝘩 𝐵𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑓 - https://lnkd.in/e9qDcxYK
