Somalia has been widely defined as a “failed state”. It has a myriad of internal and external conflicts such as those with Ethiopia and Somalia, and lacks any central political authority or any semblance of economic development. The majority of the population has always lived in a warzone, in a nation that has yet to ever see peace or stability. With rising global temperatures, the continuous alternation of droughts and floods has led to the destruction of plantations, fuelling mass migration. Czechia has long been a relatively marginal player in the international arena. With a small population and a mid-sized economy, landlocked and geographically lacking strategic relevance, Prague had, from the end of the Cold War until very recently, been satisfied with playing far from a central role in NATO and the EU. Things have, however, started to change. The war in Ukraine has catalysed this change of pace, a zeitenwende in german terms or a zlom epochy in Czech.
