AMDL CIRCLE is renowned for its humanist architecture and design. Led by Michele De Lucchi.
Chi siamo
The philosophy adopted by Michele De Lucchi's office seeks to maintain a steady interaction between architectural thinking, industrial design and global communication. This transverse approach is backed by Michele De Lucchi's own international experience acquired in more than forty years' work. Founded in the early 1980s, the office has kept its original multicultural and multidisciplinary origins. Producing architecture and design for Italian and foreign institutes, public and private organisations, businesses and individuals, it carries out in-depth surveys of matters relating to contemporary society, especially the role of industry and crafts, technology and nature. Formed by architects and designers from all over the world, the office shows a predilection for teamwork. Its projects are developed without ever being confined to the visual aspects traditionally associated with design, but rather by contemplating every necessary step - from analysis to concept, from realisation to forecasts of future scenarios. The office staff comprises some forty professionals from different cultural backgrounds and experiences who are committed to complex projects. These ranger from the scale of products to that of architecture and city planning. Always at the forefront of the international cultural scene, the firm implements a policy of technical, performing and functional quality related to reasonable completion and management costs. The firm's head office is in the center of Milan. As proof of a design reaching for excellence, the office was this year awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certificate for its architectural, urban, interior and exhibition design.

We’re thrilled to see the new showrooms in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur come to life, reflecting the retail concept developed for Poltrona Frau. First introduced with the Shanghai flagship in 2023, the concept was then adapted for the New York flagship in 2024. It was an honor to participate in the celebration of Italian Design Day 2025 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design (PolyU Design), with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong. A special moment for us was Michele De Lucchi's lecture, where he shared his vision on the evolving role of design in shaping meaningful spaces. We are grateful for the opportunity to engage with students and future designers, sparking new conversations about the power of architecture and design. #ItalianDesignDay #AMDLCIRCLE #MicheleDeLucchi #DesignInnovation #PolyU
#PolyUDesign_KnowledgeTransfer 🌟 Italian Design Day 2025 at PolyU 🇮🇹✨ What an inspiring celebration of Italian design, creativity, and innovation! 🎉 We were honoured to collaborate with the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong, bringing world-class design excellence to our campus. From Lamborghini’s car display, showcasing Italian craftsmanship in automotive design 🚗, to the Moleskine customization collaboration, where our talented PolyU Design students and alumni created unique cover designs 📖, the event was a true fusion of tradition and fresh creativity. Another key highlight of today’s program was the lecture by the esteemed architect Mr Michele De Lucchi, whose insightful talk made this event even more meaningful for our students! The pavilion designed for the new Vatican mobile post office, donated by Poste Italiane to the Vatican Post Office, integrates seamlessly into the iconic St. Peter’s Square. The intervention strikes a balance between tradition and modernity, embodying the idea of impermanence within Bernini’s 17th-century marble colonnade while reflecting adaptability—key themes in our exploration of architecture as a temporary yet impactful installation. Designed for rapid assembly, the polygonal structure can be disassembled in 48 hours, ensuring minimal disruption. Made of metal-clad timber and glass, it provides a versatile space for postal services and philatelic displays. The interior design incorporates furnishings from AMDL CIRCLE’s Poste Italiane design system, maintaining visual consistency across all branch offices and harmonizing functionality with the historic and spiritual context. The architectural and design renovation project for Ristò restaurants by Iper La grande i reflects the transition from a self-service formula to an à la carte menu. The spaces have been reimagined for table service, with a complete redesign of the dining and kitchen areas. The olive green colour dominates the interiors, evoking a setting associated with natural environments and fresh ingredients, while wooden floors add warmth. Slatted partitions and furnishings, inspired by the Circle’s “walls without walls” concept, create a convivial atmosphere, defined by a rhythm of solids and voids that allow aromas, sounds, and colors to flow freely. The same vertical slat motif is featured on tables, sofas, and benches, specially designed by Produzione Privata to create harmonious continuity. The project included a general clearing of additions to highlight the structure: the freed-up space is divided into a large area for open kitchens and a dining area with tables and chairs that can be freely arranged. Distinctive elements include integrated lighting, Produzione Privata’s suspension lamps for a harmonious atmosphere, and sound-absorbing panels for acoustic comfort. The concept extends to “Pronti Iper,” distinguished by a deep blue color, and the pizzeria, where red defines the visual identity. More about the project: https://lnkd.in/dfD8DPKz

Thank you, Haworth, for inviting me and AMDL CIRCLE to your excellently curated public talk on “industry and craftsmanship,” held during ORGATEC Cologne. I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Sebastian Herkner, whose work is very inspiring for me. As a trailblazer in the office design world, Haworth continues to lead inspiring conversations that shape the future of workspaces. A special thanks to Oliver Eitel for organizing it.
