Do you know how Rembrandt combined special pigments to achieve ‘golden’ paint in his famous work ‘The Night Watch’? 🎨✨ Chemists at the Rijksmuseum and the University of Amsterdam were able to identify the presence of pararealgar (yellow) and semi-amorphous pararealgar (orange/red) pigments in a detailed section of Rembrandt’s famous painting, The Night Watch. After studying related historical sources, they confirmed that Rembrandt deliberately mixed these specific arsenic sulfide pigments with others to achieve the golden effect. 🖼🔬 #Rembrandt #ArtHistory #TheNightWatch #Pigments

📙✨ The Vibrant History of Orange ✨📙 Did you know that the color orange has a fascinating history and cultural significance? Our team would like to share some facts about this lively hue, inspired by Kassia St Clair's book "The Secret Lives of Colour”. 🍊Etymology & Origins: The word "orange" wasn't always in the English language! It originated from the Sanskrit "naranga" and traveled through Persian and Old French before making its way to us. Before that, it was often called "yellow-red." 🎨Art & Fashion: In the 20th century, orange became synonymous with modernity and the avant-garde. Artists like Henri Matisse embraced this bold color, making it a symbol of emotional expression. 🛡️Safety First: Thanks to its high visibility, orange is the go-to color for safety gear. Whether on construction sites, lifeboats, or hunting vests, this hue ensures we're easily seen. 📜Historical Significance: In Hinduism, the saffron shade of orange is sacred, symbolizing fire and purity. It's a prominent color in religious ceremonies and often worn by monks. ☢️ Scientific Discovery: Historically, the pigment "Realgar," an arsenic sulfide mineral, was used to create orange. Due to its toxicity, its use has diminished over time. 🎃 Cultural Perception: In Western cultures, orange is a staple of autumn and harvest celebrations like Halloween and Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, in Japan, it's a symbol of love and happiness. 💡 Psychological Impact: Orange is known for its stimulating effects, promoting enthusiasm, creativity, and warmth. But beware, too much orange can be overwhelming! 📚🔍 Follow us for more insights & study recommendations regarding the colour & pigments! #ColorHistory #OrangeVibes #ArtAndCulture
