Chi siamo
ARCO è un centro di ricerca, consulenza e formazione specializzato in sviluppo locale, economia sociale, sviluppo inclusivo, monitoraggio e valutazione, valutazione d'impatto e alimenti sostenibili. Dalla sua fondazione nel 2008, ha lavorato su più di 280 progetti, con 130 clienti diversi in 33 paesi. Il team è composto da economisti, statistici, merceologi e scienziati politici che collaborano con grande interdisciplinarità sia sui progetti di cooperazione allo sviluppo che sull'organizzazione di workshop, seminari, summer school e Master di alta formazione nelle materie dello sviluppo locale, economia sociale, sviluppo inclusivo, economia circolare, valutazione e valutazione di impatto. Il team ARCO ha anche un'intensa attività di ricerca accademica coordinata e supervisionata dal Comitato Scientifico del Centro composto dai docenti del Dipartimento di Scienze per l’Economia e per l’Impresa e il Dipartimento di Statistica dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze. Il centro di Ricerca ARCO inoltre sostiene lo Yunus Social Business Centre University of Florence, il primo Centro italiano accreditato dallo Yunus Centre di Dhaka. Il centro di ricerca si trova presso PIN S.c.r.l. di Prato, Italia.

The Circular Innovation & Sustainable Commodities Unit presented the project Flowtex and Bflowtex at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona! FLOWTEX aims to realise a new organisational model of textile production chain, with fibres created from mechanical recycling, through the creation of an innovative IT platform. This platform will be able to combine process data and their characterising environmental impacts, returning flowcharts and data for life cycle studies. The Spazio Donna project, promoted by WeWorld, created new spaces for women, including victims of violence, who live in difficult contexts, to meet and socialise among different Italian cities. The different "Spazi Donna" (Women’s Spaces) aim to develop and increase women’s empowerment and, at the same time, foster the construction of an active, participatory, collaborative, non-discriminatory community of citizens capable of reducing gender-based violence through prevention and the emergence of risk situations. The M&E and Impact Evaluation Unit was involved to estimate the impact of the project on the empowerment of the beneficiaries. Given the complexity of evaluating an empowerment process and in order to make the evaluation as standardised as possible, Researchers developed a Theoretical Framework on Empowerment. Gender-mainstreaming in evaluations means designing the evaluation strategy so to promote gender equality at all stages: from the definition of output and result indicators, to the preparation of data collection tools and the sampling of beneficiaries. Thus, gender mainstreaming in evaluations is not only about understanding what happens to women as a result of their participation in a project, but how the intervention in question contributes to gender equality more generally, applying what is called a transformative approach. Making data matter - it’s a collaborative push. 👉 Our biggest thanks to everyone who participated in our session yesterday morning at the 7th OECD World Forum on Well-being. What resulted into success is bringing about sustainable and inclusive wellbeing in practice, we heard from our great panelists: Ana Boskovic, Joint Research Centre, European Commission, Alina Şandor, Joint Research Centre, European Commission, Carrie Exton, OECD - OCDE WISE, Enrico Giovannini, Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS), Richard Heys, Office for National Statistics and Robert Morgan, Welsh Government. From the Future Generations Act in Wales, and the Interservice working group on sustainable and inclusive wellbeing of the European Commission, to the How’s life reports from the OECD, a lot of work has been and continues to be done. There is absolutely no need to start from scratch. At the session, we aimed to identify how to be helpful. We heard from Enrico Giovannini how it’s essential we “stimulate the whole society” to care for sustainable and inclusive wellbeing - solely a fantastic indicator system, or a piece of legislation aren’t enough on their own. As MERGE, we aim to help and support the various interventions required. MERGE brings together tens of millions of euros and tens of collaborators around the world. But what was clear was that we are not alone in our efforts but acting collectively on the different levels. Through convergence and coordination we are committed to work towards sustainable and inclusive wellbeing. 🧶 Thank you for the great intros to our Tuuli Hirvilammi, Mario Biggeri, Rutger Hoekstra and Dr. Christoph Gran and Jenni Kilpi for leading the panel.
