It wasn’t just about plans, opportunities and call deadlines — it was about ensuring our creativity and passion are channelled into actions that truly serve our communities and our planet. Actions that contribute to sustainability transitions with an ecological mindset at heart. Moments like these, spent together (in this case, we had the privilege to gather in the inspiring setting of Poggiolo Rifugio Re_Esistente!), remind us how critical it is to pause, reflect, and challenge ourselves. Yesterday we had the exciting opportunity to engage with students from IES Cinca Alcanadre in Huesca, Spain, and introduce them to 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠, our Erasmus+ Project that is generating new flood preparedness solutions across Europe! During the event, we presented our mission and project results, emphasising EU best practices in flood risk management. The students also looked at our community mapping efforts, discovering how these participatory tools may help them identify and adapt to local flood hazards. As a part of the school's Sustainable Reality programme, the event connects students to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the 2030 Agenda, and significant stakeholders in their region, such as the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and Civil Protection. Located in a historically flood-prone location, IES Alcanadre's commitment to climate resilience is a compelling example of how youngsters can take the lead in climate adaptation! 🌍 Yesterday, we were thrilled to join the Agenzia nazionale Erasmus+ INDIRE's Kick-Off Meeting for the 2024 KA220 School Education sector in #Florence! Being selected as one of only 26 funded projects out of 185 submissions is a true honor, and it fuels our passion for what’s ahead. Together with our incredible partners, senior and newcomer ClimART High Schools, we’re diving into the world of art and animation to explore their power in spreading climate awareness. A big shout out for our ClimART3 consortium - University of Valencia, ISS Aldini Valeriani, ISS Belluzzi Fioravanti, Uni Valencia, Escuela De Artesanoss, IES Honori Garcia, Agios Vasileios, Kiprianos, St Joseph, Metamorfosi (you can learn more about them in the Erasmus+ results page - we will share the link below 👇 ). We believe that education for climate action is not optional — it’s essential. We need to step up, adapt, and act. 🌆 Happy World Cities Day 2024! 🌆 Today we celebrate cities as vital spaces for resilience, inclusivity, and action toward a sustainable future. This year’s United Nations theme, "Youth climate changemakers: Catalyzing local action for urban sustainability," emphasizes the importance of integrating young voices into urban planning and climate action. According to UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) concept note on this topic " It has been estimated that 60 percent of the world’s population will live in cities by 2030 and that as many as 60 percent of urban dwellers will be under the age of 18."! Striking, right? On this note, we are thrilled to share a sneak peek of a new Erasmus+ project we’re about to launch, PLAYFUL-ED! This project, which officially kicks off in December, focuses on empowering adults to embrace young children’s perspectives and needs in urban planning. Through interactive workshops, on-the-ground city experiments, and a toolkit, we’ll contribute to raising awareness about the importance of designing more inclusive, child-friendly spaces—benefiting generations to come. We are looking forward to being part of this project with Urban Foxes, our project coordinator, and Câmara Municipal de Amarante! 🇧🇪 🇮🇹 🇵🇹 At PLAYFUL-ED, we’re committed to creating cities that foster intergenerational connections, diversity, and sustainable design, empowering adults to co-create environments that are functional, safe, and enjoyable for all ages.
