Council of Europe ETINED Platform 8th Plenary meeting, organised in collaboration with CIMEA-NARIC Italia, took place this week Università degli Studi "Guglielmo Marconi". CIMEA-NARIC Italia Director General and LRCC President Luca Lantero contributed by sharing insights on the significant economic implications of fraud in education. Moreover, the key findings of the study on “Student awareness on fraud education” conducted in the concluded #EU co-funded project FraudS+ were presented, highlighting how this phenomenon is perceived by students. Il CIMEA dispone di un centro di documentazione internazionale e di banche dati specializzate sui sistemi esteri di istruzione superiore, sulle tipologie di titoli di studio di ogni paese e sulla legislazione nazionale in tema di istruzione superiore. Fornisce mediamente ogni anno tramite e-mail e in forma gratuita risposte a oltre 20,000 quesiti in tema di riconoscimento e valutazione di qualifiche a università italiane e straniere, studenti universitari, docenti e ricercatori, organizzazioni internazionali, ministeri, enti di ricerca ed organismi pubblici italiani e stranieri, enti, imprese ed associazioni, cittadini italiani, dell'Unione europea nonché di tutti i continenti.

Experts from CIMEA-NARIC Italia together with UNESCO Bangkok held a panel on the topic "Recognition of Qualifications, Digital Solutions and Artificial Intelligence. How can AI support fast and fair recognition of qualifications in-line with the regional and Global Recognition Conventions?” at the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (RIHED) Symposium in Bangkok, Thailand last week. Under the theme "Flexible Pathways: Fostering #LifelongLearning" Director General and President of the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee Luca Lantero presented his research on "Transnational Education: Lifelong learning beyond transnational boarders". Moreover, CIMEA-NARIC Italia contributed in the theme "Digital Sustainability: Navigating Digital Transformation in Higher Education" with an intervention on "Risks and opportunities of artificial intelligence in qualification recognition".

As project partner of the European Chips Skills Academy, CIMEA-NARIC Italia took part in the third in-person Consortium Meeting in Munich. During the meeting, ongoing #ECSA activities were discussed, and CIMEA-NARIC Italia presented the first Quality Assurance QA Report to the project Consortium.

#ASEFInnoLab5: Universities Role in AI in Education! 🌟 📣 Opening the last day of discussions, Ms Yvonne LIAO, Head of Corporate Culture at Squirrel Ai Learning, shared their groundbreaking work that revolutionises personalised learning through their Large Adaptive Model (LAM). We also had our last panel discussion on AI in Education moderated by Mr Thomas Leoni, Head of Faculty, University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt, Austria. He was joined by the following speakers: 🔸 Mr Balazs Horvath (Kimitisik, Hungary) highlighted the university's role in teaching, research, and networking and raised important questions on maintaining connections in AI education and encouraging mindful, reflective learning. 🔸 Dr Vanessa Camilleri (University of Malta) shared proposed guiding principles and key actions focused on academic leadership, societal impact, research excellence, and collaborative growth. She also called for the preservation of academic integrity and shaping an AI-enabled future focused on human good. 🔸 Dr Lafifa Jamal (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh) shared national and institutional challenges she observed and provided key actions to help address them. These actions focus on promoting inclusiveness, improving infrastructure and access to resources, faculty training and development, and establishing ethical AI guidelines. 🔸 Prof Ram B. Ramachandran (O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), India) advocated for assessment methods that accommodate multilingualism and are competency-based, doing more to bridge faculty-student AI adoption, and having more women in AI. 🔸 Mr Francesco Sanasi (高云帆) (CIMEA-NARIC Italia) shared his reflections on a holistic approach for AI in education with a focus on key projects that help contribute to a strong education ecosystem through AI. His recommendation of key actions focused on having a human-centric approach to AI, upskilling and reskilling on AI knowledge and skills, strong cooperation and networks, and mainstreaming AI literacy. As partner in the #EUErasmusPlus co-funded MICROCASA ERASMUSplus Project, the third roundtable was hosted by Ateneo de Manila University. During this event, CIMEA-NARIC Italia shared the feedback gathered from key stakeholders in Southeast Asia on the first official draft of the White Paper: Action Plan for Micro-credentials Adoption in Higher Education of Southeast Asia. It was the occasion for the Consortium to discuss about additional elements to include in the White Paper. Its final version, including the results of all three roundtables held in 2023 and 2024, will be published in January 2025. Thank you to all participants!

The event gathered leading experts (including CIMEA-NARIC Italia, Alwin Sambul, Armin Weinberger, Achmad Basuki) educators, and policymakers to explore strategies for implementing micro-credentials in the region's higher education systems.
