🌿 GREENART: The Power of Collaboration in Cultural Heritage Conservation 🌿 As the GREENART EU-funded project enters its third year, partners across Europe and beyond are making remarkable progress in developing eco-friendly solutions for cultural heritage conservation. During the 2nd Annual Consortium Meeting at the University of Ljubljana, stakeholders shared updates and reinforced the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving sustainable conservation efforts. 💡 Key achievements so far: ✅ Development of 10+ green cleaning fluids, 4 new hydrogels, and 4 organogels ✅ Testing on various artifacts, including paintings, textiles, and sculptures ✅ Sustainable alternatives to traditional solvents with bio-based solutions ✅ Significant progress in dissemination, exploitation, and communication efforts Professor Piero Baglioni highlighted the ongoing efforts and emphasized the crucial role of collaboration in testing and refining the project's innovations. We are delighted to share the remarkable progress from the AURORA Project's third-year meeting, dedicated to revolutionizing cultural heritage preservation. Highlights from the event: 🎤 Inaugural Address: A representative from the Istituto Centrale per il Restauro (ICR) emphasized the pivotal role of collaboration in safeguarding our shared heritage. 💡 Project Vision: Domenico Romano of Avvale outlined our commitment to developing user-friendly, cost-effective solutions for heritage preservation. Key Discussions: 🔗 Blockchain Technology: Exploring its potential to combat the illicit trafficking of artworks. 📍 Artwork Tracking: Highlighting modern, non-invasive methods achieving localization accuracy within 30 centimeters. 🖼️ Authentication Methods: Introducing innovative approaches like barcodes, QR codes, and transparent chemical markers to verify artwork authenticity. https://bit.ly/4anirYs As we approach the project's final year, our dedication to consolidating results and advancing technological innovations involving carbon dots and chemical markers is stronger than ever. Extensive testing on various materials, including paper, sandstone, marble, and wood, has been conducted to refine our preservation techniques. A live demonstration of AURORA's digital tool showcased its capabilities in combating illicit trafficking and ensuring artwork authenticity through metadata and blockchain technology. 🎉 We are thrilled to share that CSGI professor Paolo Bergese has published a new paper in the prestigious journal Nature Reviews Bioengineering! 🎉 Titled "The Physico-Chemical Landscape of Extracellular Vesicles" this work delves into the complex world of extracellular vesicles, exploring their diverse physico-chemical properties and the significant impact of EV component heterogeneity. This important research, supported by the H2020 BOW Project, has been a collaborative effort with fellow members of the BOW consortium and highlights the collaborative efforts and breakthrough outcomes that the project brought along. 🌿 The State of Green Art Conservation 🌿 The latest Art Media Agency Newsletter features the GREENART Project in an insightful article titled The State of Green Art Conservation. The piece highlights a public event held at the Gallery of Modern Art in Ljubljana, where GREENART Partner Antonio Mirabile presented the results of a groundbreaking survey. The survey, involving 193 French art conservation professionals, explored the current state of sustainable practices in the field. From packaging to waste management, the findings shed light on challenges such as lack of equipment, financial constraints, and institutional inertia, while also revealing the commitment of individuals and organizations striving for ecological responsibility.
