This week we celebrate the award of The Nobel Prize in Physics and Chemistry - both in fields closely related to EuMINe! 🎉🏅 The 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton “for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks.” 🤖📊 The 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to David Baker, Demis Hassabis, and John M. Jumper “for computational protein design” and “for protein structure prediction.” 🧬🔬 Notably, Ellen Moons, Chair of the Nobel Committee for Physics, emphasized: “The laureates’ work has already been of the greatest benefit. The search for novel materials is one of the fields in which artificial intelligence can provide a significant contribution. Spindox is working on the topic in the framework of the Ecosister (Ecosistema Territoriale di Innovazione dell'Emilia-Romagna), as a member of MISTER Smart Innovation and through its partnership with the Institute for Studies on Nanostructured Materials (CNR - ISMN) in the Design-IT program. Not to mention our partnership with the COST Association - European Cooperation in Science and Technology action of European Materials Informatics Network (EuMINe: https://lnkd.in/diWqVjy4) The workshop co-organized by European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA-E), will be a useful time to discuss trends in this context: https://lnkd.in/dEpKDS7d.
