with a sinuous double-ring structure, the yohoo museum sits like a glistening jade along the lake of the liangzhu yohoo park in Hangzhou. Aedas' design honors the significance of the green gem in chinese culture — namely drawing from its role in ancient rituals and associated qualities of purity, connection, and reverence. this is spatially translated in a seemingly lightweight yet monumental architectural concept that balances an interplay of opacity and transparency. a singular steel frame structure achieves this, clad with a subtle sequence of glass panels that showcase both crystal-like transparency and the warmth of jade. within these curves, a series of open piazas along the protruding island create gathering spaces for the community, before they enter the exhibition spaces inside. read more here: https://lnkd.in/eFvwVHvR

the stuffing series by designer junmyung song metaphorically applies the concept of taxidermy to furniture design. traditionally, taxidermy preserves the original form of a deceased being, allowing it to be remembered. drawing inspiration from this process, the stool series explores how an object's essence can persist through transformations in form and material. the series uses sawdust as its primary material, historically employed in taxidermy as an internal substance to preserve forms. here, sawdust shifts from its hidden, supportive role to the surface, shaping new forms of furniture. these forms are then cast in metal, blending the organic and artificial. the process contrasts the warm, textured quality of sawdust with the cold, rigid materiality of metal, creating a dialogue between natural and man-made, original and replica. read more here: https://lnkd.in/etVu67_e
