How many commercial divers do you know would get an opportunity to try different diving equipment during their training? Last week, our trainees had the opportunity to try out the Drass D-ONE helmet and the SSDE MOD-1 from Kirby Morgan. This was something out of the trainees’ comfort zone and you can see their excitement then the apprehension on their faces. Nonetheless, they were keen to try the helmets. The functions of both helmets are slightly different from the usual helmets they’ve used during training, and it took them a while to get used to it. Our trainer ensured that they understood the different functions before they used it. Thank you, Kirby Morgan for entrusting the SSDE MOD-1 to KBA Training and in allowing our trainees to experience the SSDE MOD-1. Thanks to KBA Training Centre Pte Ltd's Managing Director, Darren, for his vision to initiate this training experience for our trainees with the addition of the DRASS D-ONE helmet. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁-𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘂𝘅𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 (𝗔𝗦𝗥-𝗜𝗜), ‘𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗵𝘄𝗮𝗱𝗼’   1 Nov. 2024  The vessel, currently under construction for the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN), was delivered by DAPA (Defense Acquisition Program Administration) to the Korean Navy. The primary function of an auxiliary submarine rescue ship is to rescue crew members from distressed submarines. The ROKS Ganghwado, measuring 120 meters in length and 19 meters in width with a displacement of 5,600 tons, is significantly larger than its predecessor, ROKS Cheonghaejin, which has a displacement of 3,200 tons.
