In Barcelona, at Blanquerna - Universitat Ramon Llull, Last Thursday 19, I was pleased to attend the laboratory on AI and Misinformation with fiel experts and researchers investigating the implications of AI in the information ecosystem and, at the same time, using techniques such as NLP and Machine Learning to understand and combate disinformation. The initiative was promoted by the consortium composed by Cardiff University, Blanquerna and Newtral with the support of the European Media & Information Fund (EMIF). Thank all for this great moment!

How election information gets edited and spreads across Wikipedias is important. We are approaching the last stop in the 2024 dissemination activities of the projects I've been involved in and funded by the European Media & Information Fund (EMIF). 📣 New granted projects 📣 #EMIFund is supporting 6️⃣ new fact-checking projects with a total of €427.424,21. These projects will improve their work in countering #disinformation by introducing AI tools, focusing on pre-bunking, and addressing pertinent narratives in their countries. Meet our grantees: ☑️ AEJ Bulgaria: in this project they will collaborate with civil society and independent journalists to reach ordinary citizens with fact-checks. 🤖 15min: their project aims to introduce AI tools to newsrooms in Latvia and Lithuania and train journalists and editors to use them effectively. 🗳️ Stowarzyszenie Pravda: ahead of the 2025 presidential elections in Poland, the projects aims to empower the media to identify and counter Gen AI driven disinformation by training 150 journalists. 🗣️ Stowarzyszenie Demagog: the project will be monitoring and verifying of statements of Polish presidential elections candidates in real-time. 🌱 DeSmog UK: their project's goal is to identify climate disinformation and the networks behind it, and empower journalists, campaign groups, and policymakers to discredit it. 🧳 Público: This project fact-checking capacity by prioritizing pre-bunking, with focus on disinformation around migration. 🔗 Learn more about these projects: https://loom.ly/HpdAejM

We think the EDMO guidelines could help against this. Human rights cannot be missed in this discussion.
