Observing the Ocean to Save the Earth
Chi siamo
EMSO is a large-scale European Research Infrastructure in the field of environmental sciences. EMSO will be based on a European-scale network of seafloor observatories and platforms with the basic scientific objective of long-term monitoring, mainly in real-time, of environmental processes related to the interaction between the geosphere, biosphere, and hydrosphere, including natural hazards. It will be a geographically distributed infrastructure composed of several deep-seafloor observatories, which will be deployed on specific sites around European waters, reaching from the Arctic to the Black Sea passing through the Mediterranean Sea, thus forming a widely distributed pan-European infrastructure.

🚨Early warning systems have already helped decrease the number of deaths and have reduced losses and damages resulting from hazardous weather, water or climate events. 🌍 But major gaps still exist, especially in small island developing states and least-developed countries. 📢 At #COP29, we’re advocating for scaling up existing mechanisms like the Green Climate Fund, the Climate Risk & Early Warning Systems (CREWS) Initiative, and the Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF). Equally, national investments, supported by international financial institutions, are vital to bridging these gaps and ensuring the success of #EarlyWarningsForAll. 🤝 The climate crisis knows no borders. Tackling it requires unprecedented global cooperation, inclusive partnerships, and a shared commitment to advancing #EarlyWarningsForAll. 🔗 Learn more and join the movement: https://lnkd.in/ebRFJSRj
