The Penta-sponsored #ODYSSEY trial shows that dolutegravir-based therapy ensures excellent virological suppression in children and adolescents, even when switching to second-line ART. Key takeaways: ✅ Dolutegravir achieves faster and higher virological suppression rates, despite NRTI resistance. ✅ Better outcomes when combined with abacavir or tenofovir compared to zidovudine. ✅ Improved long-term health and quality of life for young people living with HIV. Day one of the #SUPPORT kick-off meeting was a great success! Children living with HIV are more vulnerable to serious infections due to their weakened immune systems. This significantly increases their risk of illness and death. To combat this critical challenge, the SUPPORT project is working to strengthen research capacity of African post-doc and PhD research fellows specialising in infectious diseases in Africa through a specialised training network.
