Proudly partnering with IBEC Politecnico di Torino! IBEC - Italian BEST Engineering Competition - is an engineering competition organised by fellow students in Turin and featuring over 400 participants! At the start of the competition day for the Innovate Design challenge, teams were tasked with developing a rescue aircraft design that integrates green aviation concepts. This challenge was created by our talented members of the Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP)! The winners? The true winners were all the students who participated in the event. Their hard work, passion, and teamwork created a great mix that made the competition a success. Thank you all for this special day! Hi, everyone! I'm Sibilla, and I graduated in Aerospace Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin in April 2023. Currently, I'm an Additive Process Engineer at TAL, the R&D Turin Additive Laboratory of Avio Aero, located at the Polytechnic. My journey with Avio Aero started about a year and a half ago. During my first interview, I shared my dream of working with materials and additive manufacturing - a passion sparked by two free-choice courses in my master's program focused on aerospace materials and additive technologies. My boyfriend, Gabriele, also played a big role in igniting this interest with his PLA 3D printer. My master's thesis on material characterization on samples printed by Direct Metal Laser Melting (DMLM) further solidified my career path. For the past year and a half, I've been part of an incredible, dynamic, and friendly additive team. Together, we are developing and optimizing the printing process for the production of the GE9X low-pressure turbine blades using next generation EBM machines (Spectra-H) to improve the quality and the productivity. My role primarily involves monitoring the post-processing of blades, from their coming out from the machine to the completion of CT scans, microstructure analysis, and chemical analysis, ensuring they meet standards and are production-readiness. Outside of work, I love exploring Turin's new restaurants and pastry shops, and visiting bookshops with my mom to buy new reads. My weekends are often spent reading with a cup of tea. I also have a passion for traveling and enjoy adding photos, museum tickets, stickers, and memories to my travel journal to capture every beautiful detail and not forgetting it. And that's a little bit about me! #weareavioaero #portrait
