Chi siamo
The Laboratory of Analysis of Systems for the Assessment of Reliability, RIsk and Resilience (LASAR3, www.lasar.polimi.it) of the Politecnico di Milano (www.polimi.it) develops research and educational/training courses focused on the modeling of the failure-repair-maintenance behavior of components and complex systems and critical infrastructures, for the analysis of their reliability, maintainability, prognostics, safety, vulnerability, resilience and security characteristics. The main methods and techniques developed and used are advanced system analysis methods, Monte Carlo simulation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, decision analytics and optimization heuristics. The main industrial areas of interest are those of the energy sector (nuclear, oil and gas, renewables etc.) and also those related to transportation and telecommunication.

🚀 Last week on November 25th Laboratory of Analysis of Systems for the Assessment of Reliability, Risk and Resilience (LASAR3) had the privilege to host the IEEE Winter Workshop of the Seminar Series on System Reliability, Risk, and Resilience in the Bovisa Campus, Politecnico di Milano. The event brought together experts from Beihang University and Politecnico di Milano to discuss transformative research and methodologies in system reliability, risk management, and resilience engineering. 🗣️ Event Highlights: Opening Remarks by Prof. Enrico Zio (Politecnico di Milano & MINES Paris-PSL University) set the stage for an insightful session. Introduction to Uncertainty Theory by Dr. Waichon Lio (Beihang University) offered new perspectives on handling aleatory and epistemic uncertainty. Physics-based Models for Reliability Assessment by Haoran Liu (刘浩然) (Beihang University & Politecnico di Milano) showcased innovative approaches leveraging multi-modal data. Attractor-based Reliability Modeling by Dr. Wen-Bin Chen (Beihang University) presented a novel method combining physical interpretability and generalization. Fatigue Life Prediction for Tubular Structures by Jiashan Gao (Beihang University) addressed structural complexity under non-proportional loads. Fine-tuning LLMs for Fault Diagnosis by Prof. Jie Liu (Beihang University) highlighted the potential of AI in fault detection and system health management. 🎉 We thank all speakers, participants, and organizers for the insightful event #SystemReliability #RiskManagement #EngineeringResilience #IEEEWorkshop #PolitecnicoDiMilano
