Open Day - II Edition of the MaBa.DESIGN Master's Program

Meet the Master's Professor, 𝙄𝙣𝙜. 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙤 𝙋𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙪! Graduated in 2009 from Politecnico di Milano in Building Engineering-Architecture, he completed his European PhD in Building Systems at Politecnico di Milano with honors in 2013 with the thesis "Carbon efficient constructions: Life cycle-based method for the evaluation of the carbon footprint of wood buildings". After an exchange period at Aalto University, Forest Products Department, as Visiting Researcher for the participation in the European Project "€CO2 - Wood in carbon efficient construction", he spent three years as Post-doc Researcher at Politecnico di Milano, Department of Architecture Built environment Construction engineering (ABC). In 2016, he was Visiting Professor at the University of Saint Joseph in Macau for the courses "Construction Technologies Fundamentals" and "Sustainable Building Design". In 2017 he took the position of Research Associate at ETH Zürich, Chair of Sustainable Construction, becoming coordinator of the Swiss National Research Project (SNF) NRP70 - Low Energy Concrete. In the same year, he became Adjunct Professor at Politecnico di Milano for the course Fundamentals of Construction Design. From September 2020 he is Assistant Professor in Building Production and Management at Politecnico di Milano, Department ABC. His research is focused on the identification and development of solutions and strategies for a rapid decarbonization of the construction sector. Particular interest is placed in the development and implementation of biobased materials for the promotion of climate-regenerative solutions, both for new construction and retrofit, as well as developing and applying advanced LCA and MFA methodologies. ✉️ Write to us for more information, visit the lab, and discover the Early Birds discount! Meet the Master's Professor, 𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙝. 𝘼𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖 𝙍𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞! Andrea Rossi is an architect specialised in integrated environmental design, adaptive architecture and low-energy masterplans and buildings with more than 10 years of experience in Italy, UK, Middle East and South America. He graduated in Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Turin, after one year at KTH Royal Institute of Technologies in Stockholm. In 2015, Andrea graduated as MArch in Sustainable Environmental Design at the Architectural Association School of Architecture with the dissertation project ‘Migrant Centre and Primary School in Lampedusa’, winning the Best Poster Award at PLEA 2015 Architecture in (R)evolution. From 2015 to 2017, Andrea worked at ChapmanBDSP environmental engineering company, contributing to the design and delivery of world-class projects, among which the LSE Paul Marshall Building (London, UK) by Grafton Architects, The Tower DCH (Dubai, UAE) by Calatrava A&E and D3 Dubai Design District (Dubai, UAE) Foster+Partners. From 2017 to 2022, Andrea worked at MC A - Mario Cucinella Architects as Project Director, delivering many projects among which MIND - Milan Innovation District (Milan, IT), Santa Giulia District (Milan, IT), Nice Headquarters (Limeira, BRA) and BBS Bologna Business School campus (Bologna, IT). In 2022, together with Giovanni Sanna and Pierluigi Turco, Andrea founded a-fact to continue developing and building complex, innovative and international architectural and masterplan projects. Andrea is a Visiting Lecturer at Politecnico di Milano and Turin and many other international universities.

Meet Our Master's Professor, 𝙄𝙣𝙜. 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙞 At Deerns from 2008, Mattia started his career in Sustainability Department as Energy Modelling Engineer focusing on building envelope analysis and HVAC systems performance assessments according to Italian and international technical standards (as ASHRAE 90.1). Currently, he works as Operations Director for Building Performance Group and is involved in sustainability consultancy during design and construction for many Italian and international projects, with a focus on LEED, BREEAM, WELL, energy certifications energy diagnosis for existing buildings. He is LEED AP and BREEAM Assessor for many projects. Mattia provides his expertise to several seminars as well as university and private courses related to sustainability; he is an active member of Green Building Council Italia, working in technical table and ‘Energy & Atmosphere’ Committee, working also in the preparation of LEED Italia Reference Guide. ✉️ Write to us for more information, visit the lab, and discover the Early Birds discount!
