The brand has its roots in the millenary history of Venice, where the art of glass blowing is still handed down inside the furnace and at the same time represents a reality that has been able to look beyond, searching for new techniques that could bring together the stiffness of glass with the softness and warmth of fabrics. Once again the Venetian designer Enzo Berti has stimulated the search for harmony not only on an aesthetic level but also on a productive level, calling into question millenary certainties and demonstrating that much can still be created and achieved. It took more than five hundred years from the first filigree rods, to see the birth of a new technique of spinning and blowing rods. “In my way of approaching the product, I very often wonder why, in many cases, the method has never been questioned, if it is ever possible to see the material from another perspective in order to go beyond what has always been done.” “My desire has been to revalorize crystal glass through glass rods so as to seek not only transparency but also three-dimensionality.” Enzo Berti. In spinning, the fusion of each color is unique and unrepeatable. Monochromatic rods and crystal, combined with a new approach, create glass threads with unique colors and movements. From these new “murrine”, which had never been made until now, a path of research was then opened up in order to make it possible to heat them to the temperature necessary to be blown into objects, even the large ones, while still maintaining the spinning and remaining juxtaposed without the use of crystal or other glass. “Here, too, research, attempts and experience were intertwined, giving rise to shapes that until now no one had yet been able to create with polychrome rods”, Enzo Berti recalls. The technique of glass spinning, exclusively registered as an innovation and regularly deposited with patent requested, uses from about 500 meters of siliceous yarn for each individual glass object produced.
