Last Thursday, the energy at Open Campus coworking was electric as Entrepreneurs Meet Cagliari brought together innovators, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts to share ideas and forge connections! Our founder, Micky Mereu, shared insights into the challenges and rewards of running an international performance marketing agency from Sardinia. What stood out most to him? The chance to learn from others' experiences! Networking events like this are a goldmine for sparking new ideas, and this one didn’t disappoint. Here are a few key questions and discussions from the panel that got us all thinking: 1️⃣ How big do you want to grow your company? Micky shared that while he doesn’t have an exit plan, the focus is on enjoying the journey and planning strategically. As a team, they’ve set their sights on growing to 40-50 people in the next three years. 2️⃣ Is entrepreneurship in DNA, or can it be learned? While natural traits might help, Micky believes entrepreneurship can be learned. A solid understanding of the basics - especially in finance - is essential for anyone starting out. 3️⃣ Why do people focus on product or sales/marketing more than on the customer? Customer-centricity is key! Retaining customers is seven times more cost-effective than acquiring new ones, but balancing this with strong sales, operations, and finance pillars is what sustains a business long-term. 4️⃣ What advice would you share with young Sardinians exploring entrepreneurship? Travel, network, and build foundational business knowledge - especially in finance. These are invaluable steps to success. It was inspiring to join fellow entrepreneurs like Giuseppe Colistra and Andrea Zanda in discussing how small islands like Sardinia can think big and thrive globally.
