An old bank in the center of Reggio Emilia has been converted into four apartments intended for the hospitality sector.
A tribute to cinema and four international directors, a dedication to their cinematography, and an interpretation of their approach to coloring films: Wes Anderson, Pedro Almodóvar, Paolo Sorrentino and Sergio Leone inspired the concept behind this project.
The fourth and largest apartment, spanning two levels with a double-height living area, pays homage to Sergio Leone’s “spaghetti western” cinematography. The long entrance corridor, with coffered wainscoting, neutral finishes, and wooden floors, evokes the desert landscapes of his films. Natural light and sharp contrasts dominate, mirroring Leone’s use of light to emphasize the arid intensity of his settings. The design reflects his slow, suspenseful pacing, with expansive spaces like the staircase and living rooms. Warm, earthy tones—ochres, browns, and golds—capture the oppressive heat and harshness of the worlds he depicted.
