P L S 38 - Ancestries Issue 38 of P L S magazine, the magazine of the Palais de Tokyo, calls upon ancestries, be they intimate or political, transgenerational and historical, human or more-than-human, symbolic or material. Its contributions invite us to “communicate with the invisible,” in the words of the Guadeloupean writer Maryse Condé in her novel I, Tituba, Black Witch of Salem. It is a matter of conjuring away oblivion and erasure: to revive connections and lineage, something both familiar and held in common, so as to find strength, protection, guidance and, perhaps, healing. @palaisdetokyo #magazine #plsmagazine #palaisdetokyo #ancestries

Productive Archiving - Artistic Strategies, Future Memories, and Fluid Identities Archival organisation is a basic symbolic mode with which we organise our lives and the past, present, and future. ‘Productive Archiving’ discusses a variety of problems in archival organisation, in particular three issues that are usually overlooked in archives: the question of inclusion or exclusion; the loss of individuality and specificity (i.e., homogenisation); and that archiving may become a form of pigeonholing, putting specific identities into a confined space. This book suggests exploring constructive and creative solutions, especially through the example of artistic archives, which tend to offer speculative, unexpected ways to order, select, and narrate information. @valiz_books_projects

Graphic Design is (…) Not Innocent - Scrutinizing Visual Communication Today Graphic Design Is (…) Not Innocent questions ingrained approaches, values, and assumptions of graphic design in globalised societies. The publication aims to initiate a dialogue between designers, scholars, critics, and commissioners, who investigate responsibilities, potentials, politics, limits, and risks of designing visual communication. How innocent is graphic design? Whom is it addressing, whom is it in/excluding? What does it bring about? This book combines case studies and academic reflections, trying to sketch a common ground for basic research into the parameters and value systems of graphic design. Graphic Design Is (…) Not Innocent mette in discussione approcci, valori e presupposti radicati del graphic design nelle società globalizzate.

My First Book of Fancy Letters - A delightful spin on the traditional alphabet book Did you know letters can be ATHLETIC, BUBBLY, or even CREEPY? Using unique lettering styles to showcase a fun word for each letter of the alphabet, this inventive picture book by creator Jessica Hische highlights how letters can come in all shapes and sizes—and are awesome in their own ways. Not only conveying the value of differences to little ones but also introducing young readers to some “bigger” words through typography, this book makes a great gift for baby showers, big-kid birthdays, your favorite font-obsessed friend, and more. #activitybook #kids #color #jessicahische
