💃🕺Iconic nightclub fabric London has unveiled the long-anticipated update to its Room 1 Bodykinetic dancefloor, marking the final stage of its Room 1 sound system renovation project. Completing a renovation that began in 2024 as part of the club’s extensive ‘fabric25’ celebrations, the all-new Bodykinetic dancefloor – the first upgrade to the floor since fabric opened in 1999 – features 36 units of Powersoft’s mould-breaking moving-magnet transducer, Mover, reimagining how audiences connect with sound and vibration. Compared to the previous system, which utilised 450 tactile transducers, the next-generation Bodykinetic dancefloor requires only 36 units of Mover, helping fabric to drastically reduce its energy consumption. Unlike traditional moving-coil transducers, where a copper coil moves within a magnetic field, Mover reverses this process, with the magnet moving within the coils. This design offers several key benefits: greater power and reliability, reduced reliance on fragile copper coils, and enhanced haptic feedback through the inertial-drive configuration. Because of these characteristics, Mover benefits from inherent high efficiency, requiring less power than traditional transducers and further compounding the energy-saving benefits for fabric. Compared to a traditional subwoofer installation, Mover also delivers a 50% reduction in acoustic pollution. 🔉Powersoft’s Mezzo and Dynamic Music Distribution (DMD) power a three-zone sound system at Yebisu Brewery Tokyo, turning a once-quiet museum into a vibrant, multi-zone audio experience for beer tastings and exhibitions. Mood Media Japan undertook the audio overhaul in the entire area. “We installed the system in three zones, with each area playing a different sound,” says Yamato Shibasaki, music designer from Mood Media Japan Inc. “We designed it in a way that minimises the sound from overlapping.” With DMD’s flexible routing capabilities, music is seamlessly shared across zones without a centralised DSP, simplifying installation, budgeting, and future adjustments. The compact design of Mezzo amplifiers addressed practical controls, making it ideal for the limited airflow in the rack room, while offering multi-channel capabilities with low heat emission.
