On December 16, 2024, the European Council officially adopted the new regulation on packaging and packaging waste. The regulations aim to significantly reduce packaging waste by setting binding reuse targets, restricting the use of certain types of single-use packaging, and requiring businesses to minimize over-packaging that is, the excessive or unnecessary use of materials for product packaging.
