We are happy to join the new European flagship project #TERRIFIC! On June 5th and 6th, the Novamont Headquarters and Research Center in Novara hosted the inaugural meeting for the European flagship project TERRIFIC, titled "NexT genERation circulaR bIo-based Flagship packagIng: a catalyst for the green transition". This ambitious project, spearheaded by Novamont, is set to revolutionize the packaging sector by demonstrating and developing eight innovative solutions utilizing renewable raw materials within a #circulareconomy framework. We are excited to announce that B!POD has received the prestigious Red Dot Award with DRO!D. This is an important recognition for SAES Design House, led by Marco Filippo Batavia and Ginevra della Porta, who developed the product from scratch. DRO!D brings together three important pillars of SAES's DNA: vacuum technology, sustainable food packaging, and the application of shape memory alloys. Encapsulated in a small product with the iconic double rocket shape, which is mainly due to the internal component structure and the ergonomic grip design. On May 20th, we celebrated the #WorldBeeDay by launching four corporate beehives at our Lainate Headquarters. This initiative was made possible through our collaboration with Apicoltura Urbana Srl Società Benefit, an Italian company specialized in corporate beehive adoption services. SAES for Bees is a demonstration of our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. By adopting these beehives, SAES actively contributes to environmental protection and the preservation of local ecosystems. The general meeting with EcoeFISHent partners held in Tromsø (Norway) is over. After 30 months since the start of the project, it was an opportunity to update and share ideas with the project partners. SAES is supporting this project through the formulation of fish gelatine-based lacquer, in order to obtain enhanced #oxygenbarrier properties, and the validation of industrial scale production. We had the chance to visit the innovative pilot Biotep plant by Nofima: in this flexible mini-factory, high technology companies can test and optimize their processes to extract all desired components from marine- and plant-based biomass. #scienceandinnovation #circulareconomy #EcoeFISHent
