🚢 Imagine the vast oceans, where countless vessels travel daily—carrying goods, passengers, and, unfortunately, sometimes concealing illegal activities. Real-time ship detection has become essential for stakeholders, from government agencies to offshore asset protection. Traditional methods have relied heavily on Automatic Identification Systems (AIS). But there's a major blind spot: 'dark vessels'—ships operating without AIS, often linked to piracy, illegal fishing, and human trafficking. That’s where S[&]T steps in. In partnership with ESA, we've developed a machine learning solution to detect ships in real-time from space, transforming maritime security. Greenland's ice is melting at an alarming rate, impacting sea levels worldwide🌍. Supraglacial lakes (SGLs) play a key role in this process, but accurately monitoring their depth and extent remains a challenge, highlighting the need for better methods to observe their extent and depth. Satellite data alone already provides us with important insights, but have you ever heard of 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻? It’s the practice of integrating data from various satellite sources, including optical imagery, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), infrared (IR), and hyperspectral sensors. Earth Observation (EO) plays a crucial role in providing Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance capabilities, supporting mission planning, and improving situational awareness. From border surveillance and maritime security to critical infrastructure protection and disaster response, EO is a dependable source of timely and accurate information when it is most needed. For decades, Earth Observation missions have pushed the boundaries of scientific discovery. It produces a large amount of data, but extracting valuable insights requires specific knowledge – exactly what S[&]T excels at. We bridge raw data to usable insights, with a proven track record across multiple ESA and EUMETSAT missions. We have extensive experience with a variety of instruments, which we have effectively applied in important missions. Here are some examples of our work:  📡 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗿 (𝗦𝗔𝗥): produces high-resolution images for land cover mapping and disaster monitoring. Used in Sentinel-1, Cryosat-2, and IRIDE missions.     📡 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴: detects variations in Earth’s surface composition for environmental research. Applied in Sentinel-5, Sentinel-5P, MetOp (GOME-2), and IRIDE missions.     📡 𝗟𝗶𝗗𝗔𝗥 (𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴): measures precise distances for 3D topography mapping and resource prospecting. Used in ADM-Aeolus and EarthCare missions.     📡 𝗚𝗡𝗦𝗦 (𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺): provides improved Positioning, Navigation, and Timing. Used in Galileo and EGNOS missions.    These missions make significant contributions in various areas, including maritime and land monitoring, emergency response, climate monitoring, and security.
