The blue room of Living Lab is illuminated by the Silent Disco lamp, designed for Slalom by architect Giuseppe Albera (AMA - Albera Monti Architetti). Conceived as a decorative and functional piece of furniture, the lamp is a piece of furniture that seems to float in space. Characterized by two convex circular panels, sewn together and covered in sound-absorbing fabric. The resulting disk is pierced by cylinders of different lengths, but the same diameter, which house the LEDs that provide the internal lighting. Silent Disco can feature one, three or five cylinders. The colour version chosen for ORGATEC Cologne is blue avio with blue stitching. The three cylinders, of two different lengths, are painted in matte black, and the electrical cables, covered in woven fabric of the same blue, also serve a decorative function. The collection presented at ORGATEC 2024: Woody, winner of the 2024 Red Dot Design Award in the Design Concept category, is the new sound-absorbing wall that integrates recycled plastic fibres and regenerated FSC® wood through an innovative patent pending thermoforming technology: this is an absolute novelty for Slalom but especially in the field of acoustics, ensuring a solid but lightweight product that is very easy to install, guarantying the possibility of reuse and second life, a characteristic common to the entire range of Slalom finishes. The sensorial journey unfolds through five rooms, each defined by a strong chromatic identity, where the textures of the wall panels, along with their finishing details, invite visitors to engage directly. The key architectural element is the door, which separates and connects the dierent environments, playing a fundamental perspective role: thanks to its scale, it allows the public to appreciate the refined play of colours that flows through the rooms, revealing a sophisticated use of colour. At ORGATEC Cologne 2024, we present Living Lab, an immersive journey to discover the sustainable and natural materials that constitute the essence of its sound-absorbing products. Designed by Studiolatte, this itinerant concept, previously introduced during the last edition of the Salone del Mobile, finds a new expression in this context, enriched by new acoustic and decorative products, as well as new finishes.
