🎉 Celebratory mood at Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH (NMB), our partner in the #wiseON and #AutoSmooth (#ColdMetalFusion) research projects: The SLS demo factory, a pioneering real-world laboratory for powder-based 3D plastic printing, has now been opened in the NMB technology centre. The development of selective laser sintering towards industrial series production is being driven forward there, and in particular the possibilities of #digitalisation and #automation along the entire SLS process chain are being further explored.💡 We are delighted to be part of this exciting future project and to be able to take on the role of fine depowdering and surface treatment of the 3D-printed parts with our S2. 💪 During the opening event, Dr. Till Merkel, Head of Technology at our parent company Rösler, explained the role that post-processing plays within the additive process chain and the systems we can use to accelerate and automate the post-processing of 3D prints, especially from the SLS process. 🌟The next generation of AM experts visit our site 🌟   A group of master's students from the“𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻” course at Hochschule Coburg visited our site in Untermerzbach for a workshop discussion. We had a lot of fun talking to the young experts and were very happy to give them an insight into our work. The main questions were: 💡 Why do we even need post processing in additive manufacturing? 💡 What is the difference between mandatory and optional post-processing? The Master's students were then allowed to try it out for themselves: In our AM Solutions CEC (Customer Experience Centre), they blasted or ground workpieces and “felt” the surface quality of the parts after different processing times. 👌 Finally, there was a tour of our company premises and a joint lunch with time for personal discussions and networking.
