In many civil construction projects, planners propose a metal roof. There are no technical drawbacks in terms of aesthetics, on the contrary, just consider that they are lightweight: a metal roof can weigh less than two-thirds of a tiled roof. By choosing the most suitable metal – and protected by appropriate treatments – it has a service life of several decades, with no need for maintenance. “But who knows how noisy...!”: this is the initial reaction when considering a metal roof. Industrial paving constantly withstands heavy loads and high mechanical stresses, and sometimes thermal stress, when not of a chemical nature. Concrete is the most suitable material for this application (also in commercial construction, as it can be ‘customised’ with textures or printed) but it is still necessary to increase its tensile strength – by reinforcing it – and its wear resistance.   The TeMa Building Solutions product range includes specific solutions for the reinforcement of industrial concrete paving. Le pavimentazioni industriali sopportano costantemente importanti carichi e forti sollecitazioni meccaniche, oltre talvolta a stress termici, quando non di natura chimica. Il calcestruzzo è il materiale che più si presta a questa applicazione (anche in ambito di edilizia commerciale, per la sua capacità di essere “personalizzato” con texture o altro tipo di stampa) ma è comunque necessario incrementarne la resistenza alla trazione – rinforzandolo - e all'usura. THE CONSTRUCTION OF A LIFT? | The lift is one of those inventions that gained almost instant popularity, its use quickly becoming widespread across the world following its introduction by Elisha Otis in 1853. We're so used to using them today that, even in low buildings, the only reason most people now take the stairs is to get in some healthy exercise.   Elevator pits are structures that are almost always located below the level of the car floor and must be built to withstand both static and dynamic loads. TeMa has developed T-KONE, a family of HDPE dimpled membranes — with the option of lamination to a geotextile — designed to provide mechanical protection, damp-proofing and drainage. COSA C’È SOTTO LA REALIZZAZIONE DI UN ASCENSORE? | L’ascensore è una di quelle invenzioni che, da quando Elisha Otis lo presentò nel 1853, ha impiegato poco tempo a diffondersi in tutto il mondo. Oggi si è così abituati ad utilizzarlo che, anche nei piccoli palazzi, fare le scale è ormai visto solo come un esercizio salutare. Le fosse ascensore sono strutture posizionate quasi sempre a una quota inferiore rispetto al piano di calpestio interno e devono essere in grado di sopportare carichi di tipo sia statico, sia dinamico. TeMa ha sviluppato la famiglia T-KONE, membrane alveolari in HDPE - con e senza geotessuto - in grado di assolvere le funzioni di protezione meccanica, damp proofing e drenaggio. 8MM VENTILATION GAP FOR A HEALTHY INTERIOR | There are various reasons why damp appears on walls: these include the absence of waterproofing systems on the outside of the wall, the part in contact with the subgrade soil, resulting in rising damp. Whitish patches or mould appearing on the walls are the visual symptom of the underlying problem.   TeMa Building Solutions addresses this issue of an unhealthy environment with T-KONE PLASTER, a studded membrane that acts as a cavity. Public appreciation for the importance of sustainability is growing, as is the demand for occupant comfort. Hence there's no underestimating the aesthetic and "cultural" value of a green roof with all its inherent beauty. For example, with a green roof produced with a TeMa build-up, the sound of rain and hail on the roof is greatly reduced during downpours, while run-off from such sudden weather events (which public sewers struggle to cope with) is also slowed considerably by the soil and the T-KONE H XL S membrane, which — with its big studs featuring drainage holes — retains the "good" water and releases any excess.   Most people, when they learn about the many benefits of a green roof system produced using a TeMa build-up, are quite amazed and appreciate its value. But what about weathertightness in the long run and maintenance?
