  • Sometimes it is not necessary to build something huge to be remembered, sometimes projects are so beautiful that change a landscape or a skyline forever. Kangaroo Point Green Bridge is one of those projects. Kangaroo Point Green Bridge (briefly known as KPGB) is a brand new pedestrian stay cable bridge crossing Brisbane River and connecting CBD Botanic Gardens to Kangaroo Point. Part of the Brisbane City Council Connecting Brisbane infrastructure plan, this bridge is now an integral part of the new Brisbane skyline and it is already one of the city distinctive landmarks. Aim of the project is to significantly reduce the impact of vehicular traffic in the city center, promoting the increasing of green mobility in two of the most popular areas of the city.  A sure protagonist of 2032 Olympic Games, this stay cable bridge is impressing with its slender and elegant shape thanks also to a 95 meters high mast. The fully customizable lighting system is furtherly enriching this new infrastructure. The main span is 180 Meters long and the whole deck is sustained by 32 TENSA - Your Challenges, Our Solutions TSR stay cables with 12, 15 and 43 strands, up to 190 meters long. An adjustable anchorages type TSRA installed on deck side guarantee load regulation in case of future needs. A state-of-the-art stay cable system designed for a durability of 100 years and equipped with viscous damper to efficiently absorb wind born oscillations. A dynamic commissioning on 8 stay cables has been carried out after the installation completion to confirm the logarithmic decrement calculated in the design phase. In the middle of main span deck girder, a 5 tons TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) provided by Tensa is concealed to silently dampen structure vibrations. According to the project specifications, the damping parameters have been established to prevent lateral lock-in phenomena by limiting deck accelerations under the triggering range. Measures have been taken to ensure adequate reliability against detuning and to set an appropriate vibration range for the oscillating mass within the confined space. Tensa has been chosen by a consortium led by BESIX Watpac with a core presence of Rizzani de Eccher, which led the whole construction process thanks to its deep expertise. Thanks to our team for another signature project successfully completed!   #tensa #yourchallengesoursolutions #rizzanideeccher #staycables #bridges #civilengineering #infrastructures #brisbane #kpgb #besixwatpac

Rizzani de Eccher and TENSA - Your Challenges, Our Solutions would like to express our greatest gratitude to #BrisbaneCityCouncil and #BesixWatpac for the amazing opportunity to participate and successfully deliver together the #KangarooPointBridge. Our journey started long before the EOI, developed through the ECI tender phase and culminated as part of the delivery phase through design, engineering, procurement and construction phases. We are very proud to have been part of, and positively contributed to, this unbelievably outstanding project, and to have placed a part of our Italian culture and technical know-how into this unique landmark bridge.
