Terraforming: “the theoretical process of deliberately modifying the environment of a planet, through a range of interconnected and long-term processes, such as altering atmospheric composition, regulating temperature and climate, manipulating water bodies etc. To make it potentially habitable for humans or other life forms, making it more Earth-like”. Ok, if we cut the last sentence off, it is precisely the cake we are already baking “home”, no need to go interstellar. The only problem is that we are doing it reverse-wise.   Rising temperatures and erratic weather patterns have reshaped agriculture, with global crop yields projected to decline by up to 30% by 2050 due to climate change. So… still... Happy Earth Day!!! 🌍 But, as we celebrate our planet's beauty and resilience, we're reminded of the urgent need to work together to shape a sustainable future. At TERRAVIONICS, we try to be part of the solution, harnessing technology and innovation to reduce environmental impact while enhancing agricultural productivity, and also forestry health. Our integrated precision agriculture solution, blending satellite insights, sensor data, and AI-driven analysis, is not just about optimizing field performance and cutting costs, it's about stewarding our planet responsibly. With every optimized treatment and drop of water saved, we're making strides towards a greener, more sustainable world. So we’re really proud that we made it to the World Top10 startups at the ClimateLaunchpad (by Circular Influence) green-tech challenge last year (“Food Systems” category)!!! And for being selected by ITA - Italian Trade Agency via ITA - Paris Office as one of the 10 startups that represented Italy at Pollutec!!! We'd also like to mention the great work our friends of ECOMONDO - ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP. But the journey doesn't end here. As we revel in today's achievements, let's also acknowledge the work that lies ahead. As Gandalf once said: “I’m sorry, Frodo. I was delayed”. We’re posting this only now, while it’s already been two weeks since the ISSC (Italian Space Startup Competition - 5th Edition) in Rome hosted by ASI, where TERRAVIONICS was a partner of the event. Why so? Why supporting it? If you ask any advisor, the most obvious answer would be: visibility, networking, scouting talents. Which is true: the ISSC is such a great playground for all this. And that would be all, right? Wrong. Because these three words will never make somebody who was not present there, get the true essence of the event. The words we want to use here are three quite different ones: inspiration, value, forward-looking. Because the mix of energy, curiosity, inventiveness, collaboration attitude that soaked the whole “bootcamp”, both sides of the counter, was inspiring and igniting value for the future of the space industry. Ok, now here's the coach+mentor speaking: all the students I met were not "just" well prepared. They were curious, willing to improve and, yes, even brave. Oh, you should have seen ‘em on the stage. Behind every pitch performed there was a story. About the little team+personal journey they all travelled during those 2 days. From identifying an idea (or ideas…), via a creative and dialectic process, to its elaboration, to its funneling down to a deliverable business concept. Inside each slide, each word, each gesture, there was of glimpse of how they got there. Knowing that I was part of the process, well, that was priceless. During the pitch-parade, I deliberately chose to sit in an isolated upper part of the auditorium to fully enjoy the final show. And it was so cool! I won’t mention all the teams here, it’d be unfair and too long: you all did really great, prize-winners and not (yet). I’m so proud of you guys, you made my day. Remember: learning is never just one way, I’ve learned a lot too from you (you have no idea). So, thank you! And, personally, it was also the chance to catch up with some amazing old friends that contributed to the success of the ISSC, like Francesco Ventre (who has the capability to make look easy things that are not), Daniel Oldani (with his endless energy, proactiveness and generosity) and Alessia Gloder (every time we meet I see better and better why she is the maker of Astradyne’s fortune). The event was beautifully organized by SGAC, thanks to Francesco Ventre, Ilaria P. Fiore, Matteo Bonissi, Selene Cannelli, Federica Angeletti, Luca A. etc. (again, the list is way too long, don’t get mad at me pls). And a big see you soon to all the other co-partnering companies and institutions from this ISSC edition: great professionals, sharp minds, some new friends. TERRAVIONICS has, once again, been selected by ICE/ITA (Italian Trade Agency) to represent Italy (and Lazio Region): at the prestigious WAICF 2024 (World Artificial Intelligence Cannes Festival), amongst a panel of innovative start-ups that develop and leverage on A.I. technologies. WAICF is the most important Expo in Europe on AI, where international keynote speakers and deep tech companies will share their experience on the state-of-the-art of different AI solutions. Here decision-makers and AI innovators converge: the most promising innovations and technologies will be presented, by those who are currently building the world’s most game-changing AI strategies and use-cases!
