📈Consequences of the increase in Fishery side-streams 🎣The recent increase in fish production may have a negative impact on both the environment and the economy, due to the significant increase in collateral fishery side-streams worldwide. Some of the statistics provided by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) are particularly interesting: 🔹Around 30% of fisheries and aquaculture products are lost or wasted every year: the fishing industry produces an increasing amount of side streams, represented by by-products and co-products of industrial processes that are still little or not at all exploited; 🔹Around 70% of fish, on the other hand, undergoes further processing, resulting in large amounts of waste depending on the level of processing. 🐟 Increased fishery side-streams also results in ‘unwanted catches’ or ‘by-catches’. They include undersized and overfished fish and endangered or protected marine species. 🐚 AcquaFarm 2025 – Pordenone Il 12-13 febbraio scorso si è svolto a Pordenone l’evento AcquaFarm 2025, la mostra internazionale su acquacoltura, molluschicoltura, algocoltura e industria della pesca. 🐙 Il tema della mostra consisteva nella creazione di piccoli manufatti, ottenuti dalla macinazione dei gusci di molluschi bivalvi, da utilizzare, a fini sperimentali, per l’insediamento di giovanili di riccio (Paracentrotus lividus) e giovanili di polpo (Octopus vulgaris). Il nostro partner AGRIS ha partecipato all’evento, rappresentando il progetto P.Ri.S.Ma. ⚡ 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬: 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝟒.𝟎 On January 15-16, CORE Innovation Centre hosted the 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 - bringing together leading experts from industry, academia and policy to explore the latest trends and challenges in Industry 4.0. During the panel discussion on “Energy and Sustainability of Processes” (moderated by Valia Iliopoulou) our 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐅𝐋𝐄𝐗 was mentioned by Dr. Mario Pichler (Software Competence Center Hagenberg) as an example of innovation in energy efficiency and industrial sustainability.
