#BOETTI at #ARTBASELPARIS Tornabuoni Art returned to the Grand Palais for the first edition of Art Basel Paris. On the occasion, the gallery proudly presented a masterpiece by Alighiero Boetti: 'Mappa' (1989-1991). Boetti's “Mappe” meticulously crafted by the perseverance and patience of Afghan women, embody the passage of time. Fiber of fabric upon fiber of fabric, the map reveals the unfolding of human history. ‘Arte Povera. Charting a Revolution’ is officially #OPEN in Paris. Tornabuoni Art is delighted to present a new exhibition dedicated to ten artists who began their careers as part of the influential Arte Povera movement: #AlighieroBoetti #PierPaoloCalzolari #LucianoFabro #JannisKounellis #MarioMerz #GiulioPaolini #PinoPascali #GiuseppePenone #MichelangeloPistoletto #GilbertoZorio Rather than offering a synthesis of the movement, the exhibition aims to evoke the radical spirit of its participants through a carefully curated selection of significant works by some of its key exponents. “The movement’s focus on the artistic process, its rejection of established paradigms and codified models, its engagement with space and environment, its celebration of materials, its exploration of conceptual ideas, and its pursuit of refinement constitute its true legacy. This disruptive artistic experience has profoundly impacted the art of recent decades, and its artists remain among the most compelling voices on the postwar international art scene. “ (Elena Geuna in the exhibition catalogue) Starting with the experiences that preceded the theorization of Arte Povera and continuing beyond its last official exhibition, Tornabuoni Art seeks to retrace the revolutionary aspects of a movement that profoundly changed the nature of art.
