At WFP, we are dedicated to advancing our efforts to combat sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment. Working together to drive progress on protection from sexual misconduct, we have established a newly formed Advisory Group focused on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). This Advisory Group, a WFP-led initiative, is part of Executive Director Cindy McCain's Championship of Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Sexual Harassment within the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) (2024-2025). Comprising individuals from NGOs and civil society organizations, this group offers invaluable firsthand knowledge from the field. Their perspectives are essential in enhancing our understanding of the needs of victims and survivors, enabling us to respond more effectively to their challenges. The expertise provided by this Advisory Group will not only strengthen our PSEA efforts but also offer critical guidance to the wider international community. WFP's Arif Husain reflects on how the deadly trio of conflict, climate change and economics conspire to breed hunger, and offers listeners hope from a surprising source. “I tell my colleagues … as humanitarians, our jobs are bigger than us… We don't do our job, we lose people. So every time you feel like you don't have to do 100 plus percent, just think about that.” says Arif in a latest episode of United Nations's Awake at Night podcast with Melissa Fleming Check out the episode on https://lnkd.in/d3hJDM7g
