5th November 2024 the Council adopted the long-awaited revision of the Construction Products Regulation (#CPR) to foster the Single Market for more construction products and to enhance the sustainability of the built environment. Significant changes are among others: 👉 Clarifications compared to the previous CPR; 👉 Broader scope of products covered by the CPR, including reused products; 👉 Consideration of environmental sustainability characteristics in the Declaration of Performance and Conformity (DoPC), complementing the technical characteristics of products; 👉 Enhancing the procedure for harmonised European product standards by the CPR Acquis process; 👉 Introduction of Digital Product Passports (DPP). The articles of the regulation relating to the development of standards will be applicable one month after the date of entry into force (expected around end of 2024). All the other articles of the regulation will apply one year after the date of entry into force, except for Article 92 (on penalties), which will apply two years after the date of entry into force. Practically, most articles can only be applied to products for which new or revised European standards or European Assessment Documents have been cited under the new CPR. Therefore, it will be a stepwise implementation per product family. Through EAE's membership in Construction Products Europe aisbl, we contributed to the decision-making process and to the drafting of a guidance document for manufacturers which will be made available in the coming weeks. EAE will complement it with specific advice for #ETICS and support our members during the CPR implementation.
