Un problema reale che in Italia si è iniziato ad affrontare anche con il DM FER (sospensione incentivi se prezzi zonali pari a 0 oltre 6 ore consecutive), poi in modo più incisivo con il DM FER2 (sospensione nelle ore in cui i prezzi sono pari a 0 o negativi) e in futuro tramite modalità più complesse dal DM FERX in via di approvazione. Anche da noi, tuttavia, un elevato numero di impianti rientra nei (vecchi e superati) meccanismi di feed-in tariff e quindi praticamente insensibili ai segnali di prezzi forniti dal mercato.

Excess electricity Why unregulated solar generation is becoming a problem Lion Hirth Today, solar energy is star of power system transformation across many European countries. In Germany, solar generation increased more than all other renewable energy sources combined during the first half of 2024. This is reason to applaud, since we need vast amounts of solar PV for decarbonization. However, the way we (not) integrate solar energy into power markets gives rise for concerns. Most solar generators feed electricity into the grid regardless of electricity demand. This is not only a concern because it inflates the costs of support scheme, but may cause operational trouble in situations of excess electricity.

A very interesting study conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute compares the current LCOE (that basically represents the cost of each kWh produced) for various types of plants in Germany. Needless to say it, renewables win by a landslide! Obviously, cost is not the only driver when writing an energy policy but, considering that clean energy has several positive implications also for the environment, it is difficult to find reasons against it. A piece of information to be aware of and to spread extensively! Questi progetti sono strategicamente posizionati in mercati maturi per lo stoccaggio delle batterie.

These projects are strategically positioned in mature battery storage markets.

The energy transition is at a global tipping point, driven by the exponential growth of renewable energy. This decade will be disruptive, as renewable technology sales race up the S-curve. Linear is often the default perception, but the reality is renewable technologies are still growing exponentially. Take #solar capacity. It took 22 years for the first terawatt to be installed, the second and third combined will take just 5 years. These technologies have been growing exponentially for some years, but it is only now that volumes are becoming high enough to start making a meaningful difference as we transition away from fossil fuels. #Wind and solar will start to rapidly replace coal and gas this decade, and #EVs will displace millions of barrels of oil a day. This is just the beginning. #energy #sustainability #renewables #energytransition
