"Organisers of more than 40 art fairs, including Art Basel, Frieze and Tefaf, have pledged to halve their greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 in a new alliance formed by Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC)." - Melanie Gerlis, FT   Today we are thrilled to announce the launch of a groundbreaking initiative: GCC has convened an alliance of leading art fairs to address their environmental impacts collectively: Feria ARCO, Art Basel , CHART, Easyfairs, ESTE ARTE, Frieze, Liste Art Fair Basel, Market Art Fair, Ramsay Fairs, STAGE Bregenz, TEFAF , The Art Show, and Untitled Art. This project, over a year in development, sets an important precedent for collaborative climate action within the art world. We hope this will mark a pivotal moment for environmental responsibility in the industry. Central to this initiative is the Art Fair Toolkit for Environmental Responsibility, developed in partnership with environmental experts and the alliance of art fairs. The toolkit provides a clear, actionable roadmap to help art fairs significantly reduce their environmental footprint by the end of this decade. To reinforce their commitment, all participating fairs have co-signed a statement pledging to implement the toolkit's strategies and collaborate in meeting ambitious sustainability targets. https://lnkd.in/eREeC6aa

So many things that I don't dare count, beforehand... 1. Recognition of the innovativeness of the British museums - no doubt that still many (although not all) of the most innovative reflections and approaches come from the UK, willy-nilly. 2. Museums are recognised as source of creativity and curiosity (!!! - I have strived since 2004 to pass the concept that museums are hubs for new cultures but I am a sort of old Briton undercovered: understatement is my Patronus ;-). 3. Museums can be inspirational - no need to comment this point: we all are dancing on the table. 4. Museums can sustain the life-long-learning improvements of the individuals in learning, arts and history. 5. Museums elicit positive emotions, no not positive emotions.... passion! Well, on the day George Clooney speaks up... what else??? One of the best summary of the ICOM definition.
