Helping healthcare use the power of AI⚕️

What would healthcare look like if it was more patient-centered? The European Health Data Space (EHDS) has potential to improve healthcare in Europe in several ways: - Improved quality - Improved safety - Improved access - Decreased costs With patients having better access to their own health data, both the patients and the healthcare professionals can take informed decisions about their health and treatments. Layer digital health and AI on top, and patients can access a broader scope of healthcare, with can improve the effectiveness and accessibility of the treatment. The patients will be more empowered, but there are some concerns. How do we fully ensure the safety and privacy of the health data? How do we make sure second opinions are not negatively influenced by previously recorded information? And how do we make sure all the data will not overload the end-user, that being the patient or the HCP? Next to that, estimated numbers show low digital and health literacy across citizens. The EHDS should benefit all, not only the ones who can currently manage their health. I am optimistic that the EHDS can benefit both patients and healthcare professionals, and can offer a substantial benefit to innovation and research. What do you think about the EHDS? Will the patients be further empowered now that the EHDS is coming?
