However, many of these workplaces lack essential amenities like breastfeeding areas or daycare 👶. Women often face barriers to career growth 📈 due to limited education 📚, with fewer opportunities to attend high school 🎓. Additionally, many women work through subcontractors 🤝 rather than directly for the processing facilities 🏭. Subcontracted workers are hired on a daily basis 🗓️, making it easier to replace them and harder for workers to organize into unions. They often earn less 💸 than permanent workers. #EqualPayDay This week we're at the AfricanCashew Annual Cashew Conference & Expo in Benin 🇧🇯 , Here, capacity building is a key topic 🗣️. It definitely is for us! Today, at the CasheWomen meeting: We explored inclusiveness for holistic and sustainable development within the cashew sector. Women need to be at the decision tables in the sector. 90% of workers in the cashew chain are women. Trade unions can be a real support for women to be represented and heard. Empowering social dialogue is essential for improving working conditions across the entire value chain 🌍. Op hun werk ontbreken essentiële voorzieningen zoals ruimte voor borstvoeding of kinderopvang . 👩🏭Vrouwen hebben vaak weinig opleiding gehad en hebben ook weinig kansen om door te groeien. 🏭.Veel vrouwen werken via onderaannemers in plaats van rechtstreeks voor de verwerkende bedrijven 🗓️Ze worden tijdelijk ingehuurd of als dagloner , waardoor ze makkelijker te vervangen zijn. 🤝Het is voor hen moeilijk om zich aan te sluiten bij een vakbond die opkomt voor hun belangen. 💸Ze verdienen vaak minder dan vaste werknemers. #EqualPayDay  Deze week zijn we bij de AfricanCashew Annual Cashew Conference & Expo in Benin 🇧🇯 , Hier is capaciteitsopbouw een belangrijk onderwerp 🗣️. On the basis of these Directive Principles as well as international instruments, Government is committed to regulate all economic activities for management of safety and health risks at workplaces and to provide measures so as to ensure safe and healthy working conditions for every working man and woman in the nation. Government recognizes that safety and health of workers has a positive impact on productivity and economic and social development.
