Great to report progress on the first stage of our project to modernise Kojak School in Rolpa District in Nepal, a very under developed region that really needs some help. The new internet and technology package is now in place, as illustrated by this very first video call between our donors and the school chairman with students in the background. A real privilege to be involved in such a worthwhile cause. #leading change #aspiration #opportunity

Operation Crucible – a baptism of fire! Operation Crucible is a leadership course like no other, challenging thinking under pressure, temperament and teamwork. Participants work in small teams to advise the UN on how to solve a humanitarian crisis in the Horn of Africa. Teams’ ability to understand a problem and make a plan whilst under time pressure are tested before they have to brief that plan to a tricky UNHQ. As the day unfolds, the full scale of the problem is revealed and participants have more challenges to deal with and obstacles to navigate. Their calm under pressure, clarity of thought and teamwork become evident and their ability to handle the media and manage communications are also put to the test. Advice and tutelage are provided by expert mentors with extensive on-the-ground operational expertise in the Horn of Africa dealing with just this type of crisis, making it a very real and rewarding experience for the participants. A full debrief is given which explores the lessons learned from the exercise and what teams can do to improve their skills and resilience in the future. The exercise can be run over one full or two half days and requires a minimum of 6 participants. Get in touch to find out how Amicus can help you and if Operation Crucible is right for your team. #leadershiptraining #leadership #amicuslimited

Our recent post on Amicus’ sponsorship of a teacher in Kojak School in Rolpa, Nepal sparked incredible interest and lots of messages of people asking how they can get involved - well here it is! Our CEO, Peter Wall, has set up a Just Giving page to help support the school further, and the plan of that support is outlined below. Phase 1: Laying the Foundation So far, our support has helped provide internet access, IT resources, teaching materials, and funded the salary of one teacher—a great start! But there’s more work to be done. Phase 2: Creating a Vibrant Learning Environment The three classrooms, currently stone and mortar, are dim, dusty, and unhygienic. To fix this, we aim to plaster and decorate the walls, smoothing and brightening them to create an inspiring space for the children. This transformation will cost 350,000 Nepali Rupees (£2,100). Phase 3: Extending Opportunities for Older Children In the longer term, we plan to build two additional classrooms to accommodate grades 4 and 5. Currently, 8–9-year-olds have a three-hour round trip down the mountain to attend another school 3,000 feet below—an arduous daily challenge. How You Can Help Peter has launched a crowdfunding initiative to raise £2,100 for Phase 2. 100% of the funds (after a small JustGiving fee) will go directly to the project, monitored closely by our UK and Nepali investment committee. Every penny counts and will have a huge impact on education in this remote Gurkha village. Donating is simple, fast, and secure via JustGiving. 👉 https://lnkd.in/egHsTNCQ #EducationMatters #TransformingLives #AmicusSponsorship #KojakSchool #Crowdfunding #MakeADifference
