Today, our ELSA Jersey members had the exciting opportunity to visit the Royal Court of Jersey! 🎊 They explored the different courtrooms and the States Assembly and afterwards watched the Samedi division. We also had the opportunity to meet and talk with the Deputy Bailiff, which allowed for valuable insight into the Jersey legal system.

ELSA Jersey successfully concludes its inaugural Contract Law Moot Court Competition, PACTUM! 🌟 The competition brought together six teams with participants from Jersey, the UK, Ireland, and North Macedonia for a rigorous legal challenge. A hybrid format allowed for a diverse panel of judges, with Mr. Cyril Whelan and Mr. Thomas Harris joining us in person and Ms. Meryem Horasan, Dr. kusum pal, and Ms. Vivikta Rana Sinha participating virtually. The competition culminated in a victory for the Queen Mary University of London team [Joseph Storey and Erwan Morvan], with the team from Ireland [Adrian Karbownik and Eoghan Cumbers] securing the runner-up position. Recognising exceptional advocacy, Joseph Storey was awarded the Best Speaker prize, which includes a paid in person internship at Baker & Partners. We commend the dedication of all participants and the expertise of our judges. Our sincere gratitude goes to Baker & Partners, our platinum partner, for their generous support. Lastly, we want to express our deep appreciation to Eleanor Colley for her invaluable contributions to the competition’s organisation.
